RDR2 chat:
I went trekking through the mountains, trying to find a gunslinger. On the way back, I took a little detour across a frozen lake and found a little hut, with nothing in it but a newspaper clipping describing a world champion skater and a tragic incident. Wander outside and find a defiled grave, with an open coffin and a skeleton missing a foot. In a tiny out of the way bit of the map. Such a rich detailed game.

No game has really done it for me since finishing RDR2. I think I'm in mourning. Might start it again.

While we are on the subject of things Shenguin dislikes (and, as Felice points out, we might be here for a while), I watched the latest episode of His Dark Materials last night.
The general lack of daemons is still in evidence and is now compounded by a completely unnecessary change from the books: Kaisa, Serafina Pekkala's daemon, has switched species and is now a shitty CGI gyrfalcon. Do you know how much I had been looking forward to a snow goose with the voice of David Suchet? I suppose the problem is that the lion's share (bear's share?) of the animation budget went on Iorek Byrnison.
They also introduced Lin Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby. I think I can get used to him although I had pictured him as a bit older (I only learnt recently that Pullman had based Scoresby's appearance on Lee Van Cleef. Cool).

Hmmm. It would appear I have agreed with scubar twice in the space of 40 minutes. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to reevaluate my life.

How can the Sheffield United result be mentioned without acknowledging that 'the Scottish Wayne Rooney' chipped in with a goal. Little known fact for our English contingent: every time an English wonder kid comes through, the Scottish press crown one of our players as a sort of off-brand Scottish version. Iirc John Fleck was the one hailed as the Scottish Wayne Rooney (hard shot, a bit funny looking). Craig Brown unilaterally announced that Darren Mackie was the Scottish Michael Owen (fast) and Nicky Low was the Scottish Dennis bergkamp (even though bergkamp is in fact the Dutch Denis Law). Ryan Gauld is, of course, the Scottish Messi (did that stepover at Dens Park that time). I think Mcburnie is probably the Scottish Gabriel Agbonlahor or something like that. We're looking for someone who once had a good game and everyone is still waiting for them to do it again.

HDM chat: I would say that due to budget and basically a film perspective, a lot of scenes would be far too busy if they showed all the daemons.
One of the most faithful books to film adaptations were the early Harry Potter films, they only started getting good when people took the essence of the books and made a film.
Same with TV, I thought "Good Omens" was fun and really well done whilst still quibbling about certain things.
Bottom line, enjoy or not, nobody dies.

I had forgotten that and was wondering why I had associated the character with someone resembling Mark Twain.
