"For the latter my German passport, issued ten years ago at the German embassy in London, up for renewal this year, that has Birmingham as my city of residence in it, is indisputable proof that I've lived there for at least ten years. As far as the Home Office is concerned, it's irrelevant.".
I truly sympathise, but I don't think having a German ppt stating your address as Birmingham would be considered as evidence by the Home Office of continous residence in the UK. Surely though, the stamps contained within would confirm your time spent residing in the UK? Not my area of expertise*, but things like this are one of the reasons I fucking left.
* stop laughing at the back..and the front.

Cyberpunk 2077 delayed until 17 September. Happy fucking Friday. Better to delay and get it right, than rush it and fuck it up. This. A million times this. I work in software development. EVERYONE involved would rather something was slightly delayed and released when ready than rushed and have issues. FFVII remake delayed by 36 days. People getting outraged. Fuck 'em, nobody is losing anything because of this delay EXCEPT the publisher and developer, and maybe the seller (shop or online shop). Nobody is dying. Am I disappointed that I have to wait a bit longer, yes, for five seconds, but I'd rather play something finished than have to download a patch partway through and restart or just wait until the bugs are fixed then buy anyway.

Hullo. Lawrence Fox, whattaguy. Game: Tekken6, scenario mode, hard level. Becoming an enjoyable grind. Fillums: Split. Very predictable, 3* (controversial, I know). "Sort of thing Kane would love" - Mark KermodeFunny you should say that, I have all three movies in that series; Unbreakable, Split and Glass! OTTM: my eyes are being removed today for a polish and check up and to make sure my cybernetic implants are still sending signals back to HQ (eye test at 12:30), yes I know.. Amazon: The outpost season 1 not to bad (he says teeth clenched) Netflix: Wonder Woman, Ninja 1 & 2 (Scot Adkins) I'll be Back! I wouldn't normally correct but as he's my mate - Scott Adkins!

Good morjing! Perhaps a metaphor for... Video games! I've got that Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE #TotesOMG coming today. It was fun on the Wii 2, if a bit of a grind and embarrassing to play infront of the preferred mammal. But its SMT so it has to be done. Did that not used to go for next to nothing on the Wii 2's eshop? I didn't really understand what it was so never bothered picking it up? Am I the only one that struggles to pay full price for a game when it's been cheap elsewhere? Currently, I quite fancy playing Ni No Kuni again but can't fathom paying ten times what I paid for it on PS3 just to play it again on the Switch. Isn't the remake cheap on ps4?

Regarding Cyberpunk 2077 and anyone who feels their delay is fine, totally woke or whatever:
Try this on for size buddy. Whatever big project you are currently working on, go into your bosses office tomorrow morning and explain you are delaying it for 6 months. Be sure to avoid using terms like "I'm sorry" and "I apologise" and be sure to pick a project in which you have already charged clients under the premise of the initial release date.
Then come back and tell us all how you did champ, I'm sure it will all be fine.

Meh, I do stuff like that all the time. I usually just blame it on other people.

Don't think I've ever delivered anything on time, or owned the blame for it being late. Seems fair enough to me; the cool game dev peeps are probably wasting all their time on chatboards about Excel and bureaucratic desk jobs.
Edit: and retiring to Wetherspoons.

Seethe away, tenthenemy, the conscious fanning of ignorant racist paranoia makes me so bloody angry it's a threat to my continued existence. The broad swathe of fuckwits who find it easier to blame others for their inability to find employment rather than their unwillingness to do the hard graft in delivery, health and agriculture that folk from E Europe are prepared to do makes me spit. What I find insane about the 'thinking' behind this weird combination of public school hooray Henrys and blue collar workers across the North of England* is that they believe that making England a 'great' trading nation again is economically feasible by creating a barrier to trade with Europe. Never mind the interregnum, and leaving aside the economic insanity and ecological lunacy of embarking on a policy which will greatly increase the transport costs and carbon footprint of our trade. By continually resorting to lies, exaggerated evaluation of threats and risk, successive governments have inculcated in the population a paranoia that has eroded the capacity of normal people to take a balanced view on anything. Instead of thinking for themselves they opt for receiving their opinions from a media that incessantly exaggerates consequences of risk, without balancing this with the positive outcomes of risk. So, there is now a strong tendency for folk to look for a politician or demagogue to do their thinking for them. This country, in multicultural terms, and at a very human level, was moving towards being 'great' in a way that really mattered. It will take generations to recover from this. (Nursey was crucifying me midday so I might not be as cogent as I would like, and likely no-one will plough through it all.)

I have trained the vast majority of my customers to expect work done when it is done. If something is urgent they have to let me know. It is very important to make sure that expectations do not exceed my willingness to do some work.

OTTM: (edited) Coming soon in the next two weeks - I CAN SEE! - new eyes can be very expensive, I practically had to raid Area 51's R & D labs for the tech, and of course DARPA! how do you like the new look!

My German EU passport contains no more stamps recording entering or leaving any EU country including the UK than any British EU passport, i.e. none. That's why we all join the the EU passports queue at Border Control. Or used to, come end of January. I have no idea whether anyone is actually ready for the change, but so far I've seen no evidence. I've been surprised how meekly family members have accepted losing their rights as EU citizens, not only for themselves but also for their children and grandchildren and all future generations. Mr Tent Rooster and his siblings are entitled to an Irish passport courtesy of an Irish grandfather, but he's the only one who's actually concerned about the issue and deeply regrets that he didn't apply earlier so that he could have passed Irish citizenship down to his daughter and her children. But I've already been surprised that people didn't scream blue murder when the income threshold for bringing a foreign spouse/partner to the UK was introduced, effectively denying poor people the right to have a family in their own country. Anyway, Gaby Hinsliff's article today covered my concerns pretty comprehensively. A lot of the comments were (predictably) pants, but it is true that as a German it's been instilled into me to never trust a government the way British people do.

Ten - if you don’t have council tax returns would utility bills or bank statements not serve as adequate replacements if you are named on them?

Ten - if you don’t have council tax returns would utility bills or bank statements not serve as adequate replacements if you are named on them? This is the home office. They exist solely to deport people, issue blanket denials on any given matter and to provide a ready supply of blood for cabinet ministers to snack on. Sort of like the familiar goons in Blade but with less basic empathy.
