Electric cars
I wouldn't buy one. I would consider lease or lease purchase. There is a significant risk that battery technology will improve massively almost overnight. This is going to leave a lot of EVs with older batteries almost unsaleable. There is also the problem with older batteries being expensive to replace and not charging properly.
There are two big problems. One is charging infrastructure. I can't easily charge an EV at home. Nor would it be easy to set up individual charge points at the flats. There are too many flats and not enough spaces. I suspect this is true in many areas. If you don't have a private drive/garage it is not straightforward to charge at home. I did read there are now more charging points than petrol stations the other day, though I noticed the claim wasn't more charging points than fuel pumps. Also you need to be able t get a hefty 150-200 mile recharge in the same 5-10 minutes it takes to get fuel. I don't think this is reliably the case yet.
The other issue is range. 200 miles is not enough to be attractive. 400 miles when driven normally (on one journey, not stop- start through cities) and they start to look very attractive.

My next car will probably be a diesel. In order to be more time efficient, I'll leave the engine permanently running. You must live opposite me! Are you a woman in her late-forties and have curly hair?

Morning
I miss cigarettes. Not enough to make me start again though. I do enjoy a nice vape though - 6mg is fine for my low-stress lifestyle. Quality juice is the key... there are some bloody horrible mixtures out there. I'm also fond of adding a few menthol crystals (Boots pharmacy counter) to a bottle. Bad habits I know, but I've had worse.

Well, not the first time I've been proven incorrect. Fair enough.

I used to have a Magic Flight Launcher Box thing for vaping weed. None of this liquid nonsense.
Anyway my body is a temple these days*.
*It's not, I'm certain to die in my 50's.

You guys are presuming that the base component of the EV batteries is endless. Currently Lithium extraction from salt pans in Oz, Chile and Argentina is the predominant method of obtaining it. Lithium explodes on contact with oxygen so extraction is cheaper from brine than mining Spodumene and cracking that. But Lithium extraction in Argentina and Chile is having effects on the groundwater - sources of the metal in USA, China have yet to be fully exploited, but all these and the current supplies would be likely to result in damage to the water supply in areas compromised by lack of water. All of these countries have a piss poor record of environmental management; the Australian source should be controllable in that respect. Pretty it ain't. Edit: it's not a huge surprise that the main Chinese deposits being exploited are in Uighur and Tibetan areas...

Soupchat! - Currently simmering 4 chicken breasts for dog, so will use the stock as a base. Resisted Yotams idea to bung a head of garlic in as well, for fear of weapons-grade dogfarts. No pappardelle, so will substitute egg noodles or pasta, and will add half a scotch bonnet cos I likes it spicy. Possibly some green lentils as well.
Wiggling from home has benefits.

When I poach chicken I just bung in a couple of bay leaves add pepper and if I've got any add some chopped up celery.

Soupchat! Just a thought - couldn't you soften 4 or 5 lasagne sheets and cut to pappardelle size? I used to make Tagliatelle this way if I ran out ...
