The weird thing is watching what's happening in mainland Europe and knowing that we'll be doing the same thing in a week or so's time. Last week's daily reported infections: 65, 50, 52, 83, 139, 207 and 343 I sense a trend here. Globally: 14/03/2020 Coronavirus Cases: 156,073 Deaths: 5,821 Recovered: 74,459 Uk cases: 1140 total deaths: 21 Total cases/1 million population: 16.8 Recovered:18 (to date) OTTM: I've just watched the 1985 film 'Lifeforce' on Netflix, fiction versus real life anyone! I think I'll have another coffee, nothing wrong with living dangerously now and again - Oh!

Just played the COD BR training mode. After 5 attempts I eventually came 2nd. Then was too scared to play with real people so switched it off. I'm sure the voice is Grant Mitchell. "GRRAAAUUUNNTT".
Then I re-download Dawn of the Dead for something more sedate.
Cool story Tuffers.

Game mechanics that you hate? Like Tent Hen I think restricted inventory space is irritating but my number one hate is degradation of weapons/armours, why? I don't need any bloody "realism" in a game with dragons flying around burning shit up. Main reason I don't want to touch BotW. It's too late in the evening to respond to this, but what the hell. We can't have that. I'm not saying that the weapon degradation in BotW isn't a source of irritation. Let me tell you, there's nothing "realistic" about weapons breaking in that game: they break like glass. Well, not quite as bad, but Hyrulean weapon blacksmiths need to hang their head in shame for their shoddy handiwork. However! It is quite clear that the developers let weapons break because they thought it was funny. Like in many other Zelda games they just love trolling the player. This is why one can do extra damage to an enemy by throwing a damaged weapon at them. The other reason is that they wanted to make combat more interesting; in that they were very successful. Instead of finding the game's strongest weapon and then sticking to it you are forced to work with a large variety of weapons that are suitable for different types of situations and enemies. I have 450 hours in that game, but I think my strongest weapon only broke once during that time because I only used it when I had to instead of squashing every low level enemy with it. And weapons, even very good ones, can be found everywhere, but even if you run out you can use a branch or a leaf to good effect. There are players who had a lot of fun fighting the final boss armed with a broomstick and a pot lid and now that I'm writing that I feel like going and trying that myself. For example, the DLC boss fights had to be done with only one weapon - you broke it during the fight, well that's too bad. This posed a nice challenge, you needed to fight smarter, more efficiently, instead of hacking away at the enemy until their health bar was at zero. The DLC had also one of the most interesting weapons, the One-Hit Obliterator: killing any enemy in one hit and at the same time making you vulnerable so that you yourself will die in a single hit. It doesn't sound good on paper, but working with this was a magical experience, I loved it. In any case, the Master Sword is the one weapon in the game that won't break once you managed to obtain it. There are also weapons that can be repaired, but most of the time I didn't bother with that because better ones were freely available. Some weapons have properties that are useful outside combat. What I'm saying is that depriving yourself of that game because of weapon degradation is silly. Oh, and another thing that games sometimes do and that I hate are missable items.

tenthenemy I'm surprised at how short your reply was I guess, as you say, it's late, you make some very good points and I don't mind changing weapons for certain events what I HATE is being forced to so for no good reason*. I like working towards god weapons which, though not necessary to beat the game, take a lot of effort, the FFX celestial weapons are a good case in point, and I enjoy that sort of challenge. I've watched lots of gameplay of BotW and though obviously a good game even the people playing it get irritated by the mechanic, as to adding challenges by only using certain items, fine for people that want to do that e.g. people have beaten Dark Souls using a guitar hero controller, it's not for me. So I'm just a big Silly. *I don't consider adding challenge a good reason.

Chumbles is 69; with underlying medical problems. I'm 65 with an unhealthy lifestyle (unless excessive alcohol consumption is a barrier to the coronavirus in which case I should be okay). I think the issue will be with 'boxers' significant others. My daughters have a friend (in her twenties) with serious medical issues. Her parents have isolated her to the extent that she has packed in her job and been confined her to home (they are quite well off). My daughters are round visiting her tonight, but she has effectively been isolated for over a week so far, with no end date in sight. "Chumbles is 69; with overlying medical problems", please; it's not as though I make a secret of them. My neighbours (the ones who actually help me if I need it), have a quadriplegic 16 year old whose life has been a procession of operations and he's got another one on his spine that he needs done next week. It's overdue and he needs to recover in time for his GCSEs... I kept my cynical gob shut when his dad said that with all the precautions hospital was probably the safest place to be. I have very very serious doubts that that will be the case in 7 days time. I could go on; dad's a Virgin fibre engineer who covers the backbone network with 5 others for the SE of England, his daughter has just started work in the local hospital and his other son is a rambunctious 12 year old who can't stand being indoors. Frankly, if I go, I've lead a very full life so lopping off a few years will just hasten the end of the last six years against the reaper. But I hope that boy makes it through. Hmmm - that's a very verbose way of agreeing with DestryAnyway, just for Felice Landry and anyone else into Nordic/Germanic etc folk/rock fusions... Like Dzivia, Eivør, Faun, Skald, I've found another - Myrkyr... I'm off to sleep if I am lucky

I’ll be honest that’s fewer than I expected (0). Word has it anyone over 70 will be isolated at home for four months within the next couple of weeks. Although we’re moving up in the numbers so it might all be over a bit quicker than that.

5.5/6. Why aren't they mentioning crafting every possible item and unlocking every recipe? Are these people even trying? Ooh, look, I can now make a broken crate instead of whole one! I'm sooo glad this is in the game.

Felice Landry ... Fucking A! I am not alone ... And of all those completing the map in Civ IV / Fall from Heaven 1.0g has accounted for MONTHS of my life. I play on Huge/Marathon game settings ... Thank you, and tenthenemy , for confirming I am not alone... If I recover enough to be able to break out my HOTAS* and join gongfarmer in Elite: Dangerous in insanely long journeys to all parts of the galaxy. And then I suspect I will be found slumped over my desk, my withered hands spasming, still trying find a way to reach the Small Magellanic Cloud. *Pronounced "Hot Arse"?

Nursey due today - it'll be amateur hour again. I'm grateful they turn up, but it's very wearing having to think your way through a morphine fog to stop them doing something stupid... Ganes: I have to chockle, in my new NP2 game (anonymous players) I'm pretty sure that Australian bastard isn't playing, but we're now in the phase where carriers start to bump into each other. I'm pretty sure that the Australian's awful whinging sidekick (it's so unfair, you are so lucky) has just deliberately launched on stars I'm en route to. He's not replied to my message requesting that he doesn't do that and offering trade and alliance... A player's style is like a fingerprint and Mr Grabby has spent ALL his cash at the start of the game. What he don't know is I have half my starting cash left and 2 heavy duty carriers on their way. Whereupon he's going to say sorry about the 'accidental' bumps and propose a border where he retains his gains and we start trading. He can fuck right off; I am going to bury the bugger. Edit: Mr Grabby has just sent the "Oh shit, I'm so sorry, let's be friends" message now he's seen the first big carrier... wanker

Morning all.
An early start to the day courtesy of a boy waking early - time to get that blackout-blind back up in his room.
Gamesblog - my settlers are still working on the blueprint, which requires the aforementioned broken crates (of which I have none of). I also need blue, white, and orange blocks, and haven't a clue how to make those either.
TVblog - caught a bit of Kingdom, which has fantastic fight choreography. This was followed by Jack Ryan. Why can't they make a Ghost Recon series? One actually set during the original game, none at of this modern drone nonsense.
Amigablog - got all the components back in the box last night. Time to set up a new hard disk.

99% certain we're cancelling our mini break in London next weekend, already cancelled one restaurant, the only problem was a non-refundable £200 hotel deposit but we're just going to have to swallow that.

We're off to the Scilly Isles mid-April. Just had an email from our lodgings saying to come along regardless, as they can't refund us. So if we don't go, it'll be a travel insurance claim I think.
