If you want a time soak of a game, try Dungeons & Dragons. Not the video game, but the books and model figures... Why is it good? 1. You can create your own dungeon and populate it with monsters, tricks and traps... The only thing you're going to need is your imagination, a large notebook* to write down where stuff is and character sheets for your family / fellow lockins. In fact, there is no reason why you couldn't run it on Zoom... *Better yet 5 x 3" record cards - much easier to replace a failed room... 2. You can get your offspring painting figures, creating sketches of their heroes on paper and tacking them to a cardboard shield. You could also humbly beg the aid of your partner in creating sections of the map with stuff. 3. Start with one of the many Dungeon online if you want to practice - there's scads of them ... You'll need two things, I think, the Essentials Kit which has an out of the box dungeon in it. And you may want the Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set, but if you want to develop your interest / dungeon then... The older books like the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Masters Guide 2nd Edition, are better, in that it covers everything; the matching Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - Player's Handbook 2nd Edition are a good way to go. But remember, NEVER cheat your players, they will be very very unhappy with you and in current circs that's not a good idea; all your work will be wasted... Involve your players ... if your youngest's (or in my case the someone who is going through the motions) attention is wandering, you can get them to roll the event dice. And dungeons breed dungeons - when I lived in Guildford I ran the dungeon I'd created 2 years before and within a year five of that group had also created their own dungeons... So if you've older lockins, their imaginations may also catch fire. Many ages ago, most of my first 31 issues when I edited a 'zine were published from Guildford, I created a Dungeon, which might help you see what can be done (starts on page 2 - gods, I had so much energy then), but do your own thang. If you can read it!

Good Morning Everyone! It was, frankly, a relief to see the angry blue bear this morning, so I didn't have to read this shit. Edit: Ozymandias Kane , If it makes you happier, feel free to assume that I'm venting on here with a large amount of irony and that allows me to be amazing irl. Whatevs, I gotta go, they're screaming for help, which I guess means they've chewed through the gags again. Don't forget they taste better when they are plumped up! Good luck today, sounds like you need it.

Dungeons: And don't ask me to run a Dungeon ... I might participate, but I gave away my original imported Gary Gygax D&D 6 booklet set - one of the first shipment Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone brought over in their migration of Games Workshop from wooden boardgames to money-making machine, largely based on D&D, to playtest (I was one of their guinea pigs)... My last remaining figure is in my display cabinet. It's fucking huge and scares the shit out of players, but it's very delicate... dunno how this guy is going to wrap and post it for £3.95... naff paint job. And that is a dining room chair...

I can't believe Melvazord is missing this chat. A direct hit on his wheelhouse. (I got a D and D rereleased set 2 Xmases ago, Chumbles - have not been able to muster the prolonged attention required to actually play it yet).

My 9kg of wine delivery has gone AWOL without leave. About an hour before it was due to be delivered the tracking changed from showing which stop was next and where the driver was to saying 'no delivery information available'. Presumably that means we 'weren't in' and the driver is drunk in a layby.
One down, three more to go. Where will they land? In the hedge? In the bins?
Also got to venture out to the pharmacy later to collect my anti-wiggler medication. Sounds like a perfect way to catch the pox.

AC:NH Forgot to say. Didn't get on yesterday properly so that's another week without turnips. Pah Turnips is what gets me out of bed on Sunday mornings. If you can do this without kicking yourself in case you get a steep price, would you mind monitoring your prices for us? It's a good way of getting the hang of the whole stalk market thing, too. Every day you get two prices, one in the morning and one in the afternoon until Nook's Cranny closes. The morning price is only valid until noon, which is a pain because even if you don't want to sell you need to have checked the price so that you can determine the pattern. Luckily the Switch is portable so that one can do it on the bog. Not that I'm doing that.

Pandemic is really good by the way. If you want horrifying fact based stuff about potential pandemics at the moment.

...endof, stuff to do...

Rolling
Exactly how many people have you got trapped in your cellar? Are you making continued food deliveries contingent on them agreeing to play D&D with you?
It's a high risk strategy.

Chumbles I used to play Call of Cthulhu and Middle Earth back in the day. In between long road trips on my hog and hooking up with fantastically hot chicks, obvs.

Theyve been terrible. 78 today.
At one point over the weekend they reached the dizzzy heights of 126 Must have been Saturday, Sundays there's only buying and no selling. Sounds as if you had an ascending pattern, wish I'd known that but by that time I had long sold off mine (except for the one lot that I needed to go rotten for insects). Last week was a complete disaster, a descending pattern that started off below sales price. Fortunately I didn't put a lot of bells into so my financial loss is bearable without having to put up my island as a collateral. www.theguardian.com/business/2020/apr/20/richard-branson-renews-virgin-plea-for-coronavirus-supportYesterday I managed to mess up my string of perfect fishing line casts when I was just seven away from the goal of 50. I'll never hit the 100 mark. This morning I wasted 23 portions of fish bait on a rainy pier without getting the fish I needed. At least the 23 castings were all perfect. Only 27 more to go. Today I got Zell, a veteran of my old New Leaf town, to move to the island. Although I'm in favour of new people, I mean animals, I'm very happy to see him again. I still miss Peanut in this playthrough.

Just to exacerbate today's nerdiness rich and sensual chat a bit more, let me tell you that last night's live stream of Hand of Fate was a lot of fun. As I was saying, I had no idea what the game was like other than that it involves cards in some way. Turns out that it's an appealing mixture of D&D-like deck building and Arkham Asylum style combat. Fun for all the nerds! And of course there was the inevitable "Hand of Job" joke in the chat.
And apropos hand job, here's a video of the always entertaining Jon Cartwright trying to get as far as possible in Dark Souls with only one hand:

I have cut the top of my left hand's digitus impudicus 🖕 with a very thin piece of foil last night and it hurts like hell, nonetheless I am done with my chores (nitrile disposable glove, Marigold* on top). Apart from giving useless, unwanted advice for 90m on here the 8 hour stretch has seen me spring clean another shelf; do some laundry, transfer dvds to a cd wallet, dust the remaining ones. My legs have no more tolerance for the vertical so adjournment to the pit is required.
Triss Marigold?

Lovely weather today has meant a good few hours in the back garden. Once the boy and I returned indoors, a game of "Sky pirates" began - the Lego pirate ship I built has been given wings and boosters to allow it to ascend to the heavens at high speed.
Gravity, though, had other plans...

Not sure if someone already replied, but yes in FFVII remake you can save anywhere. It will also checkpoint you automatically, and before every single fight from what I can fathom, certainly every significant encounter with an enemy.I throw in the odd manual save when I am about to go to bed or power off the console for my prescribed hour of non-gaming.
Afternoon all. Conspicuous by my absence on Friday, and over the weekend, it seems not taking your thyroid medication an hour before you start imbibing the good lord's finest coffee will wreak havoc on your ability to function. Old routine meant I had two hours before coffee consumption began, now I roll out of bed, take my meds and roll straight into the kitchen to make sweet nectar. Serves me right. Spent all day Friday asleep, Saturday fighting to stay awake, then finally felt human again yesterday evening, by which time my sleep pattern was so broken I got about four hours last night in bits. Today has been fun.
Games: FFVII remake. 34 ish hours in, love it. Please fix the textures SQEEEEENIX, please give us a harder difficulty in turn based mode, and this goes down as game of the generation for me. The music, did I mention the music...so good. OTTM: Everyone ok?
