Morning all.
TVblog: Parks & Rec. And then, because I'd watched that YouTube thing the previous evening, the first three episodes of Community.
Gamesblog: two levels of Breathless. More than half way through now. And then some tidying up of the system in Directory Opus, including a custom group for first person shooters.
OTTM: my partner just used the term "science experiment", and now I don't know what to think.

Hello
Games - a brief foray into Shogun 2, playing the Fall of the Samurai DLC, took down a superior force with the simple ingredients of a line of rifle infantry, a couple of cannons, and a navy just offshore to bombard the battlefield.
Great stuff.
Also downloaded Skyrim SE, installed a few mods, including one that gives you a different start, touched down in Windhelm, and that was as far as I got before one of the dogs decided to be an arsehole and bark lots.

Did you try to order breakfast after 11:30? A little subfusc for your 4k post; but I guess it's the quality that matters.

So crankcaller and amipal hit 5K and 4K respectively on the same day with consecutive posts. This must mean something mystical.

I never played with gunpowder units, didn't know you could integrate naval units into a land battle? Ahhhh, Skyrim. Avoided using any mods thus far but will grab some if I ever finish my current game.

Same time period/conflict as that Tom Cruise film, The Last Samurai. Modernisation vs Tradition. If you keep your ships within a certain distance of your troops, you get the option to bombard the battlefield twice. Especially useful for sieges. I’m not sure how the Traditional faction is ever meant to beat the modern faction, but there we go.

Are the mods still free for Skyrim SE? Or did Bethesda monetize the shit out of that too?

Mods are still free, it’s only the creation club stuff that costs money, and when mods are pretty much better than that, I haven’t touched any of them.

We had a skip delivered, that's as exciting as things got.
I also shot aliens in the face on Halo Reach. I watched the rest of the first Lord of The Rings film and now feel ready to tackle the extended version.

I can't remember who it was, maybe a poster here, but it was stated the eagles in LOTD could have just dropped the ring off at Mount Doom. I think they had a point, as even though the Wraiths were airborne there were only 9 of them.

Morning all. Feeling a bit more chipper today. No idea why but I'll take it. Games: Installed a resolution mod for Icewind Jim Dale, which completely borked the game and broke my game saves. One full uninstall, hard delete and full reinstall later and I am back to where I was on Sunday. Stupid mods that don't work. The Quake mod I installed did work (apart from losing all my previous progress), but I've realised I have zero inclination to play through that game again.
I'm a bit stuck in Icewind D though, in a dungeon that is three levels away from a safe rest point (which isn't even 100% safe as monsters will rng spawn to interrupt your dreams and then you have to fight and risk the character you were trying to save by resting actually dying fighting them). This is due to the dungeon level I am actually exploring being riddled with traps and I have no thief in the party with which to disarm them. Means I go into actual battle already severely depleted. Looking to dual-class someone at next opportunity but that risks all kinds of nerfing for that character for a long while.
TV: More Michael Jordan documentary. Wonder if he ever got over his gambling addiction.
OTTM: nothing to report.
