Wait you can see the space station? Presumably you need a telescope?
Oh and as always, gaming night went badly.

Morning Shenguin
What's your beverage of choice this evening? I'm having cold crisp generic Belgium lager. Four stars.
OOTTDM, eldest supposed to be back at school in 11 days, but it's not definite, although the school are preparing for it, plus another younger year. For her sake, I hope they do open (catastrophic plague notwithstanding).

A good pair of binoculars would help resolve some details, but perfectly visible with the naked eye.

According to my guy on the ISS, it should pass over about 10.50 ish tonight. Although it's clouded over a bit here now. Oh well, it an excuse to have a beer and stare at the sky. #PRAYFORTUFFERS

I had beer in the fridge for this evening.
And yet, when it came to pouring a drink, I went for my ol' dependable bottle of red wine.

Tonight the video posting system let me down. 404 Not Found: very simple, very moving.

I am not angry. Just incredibly disappointed.
And angry.

Yes, the ISS is visible to the naked* eye and it's proper fast, I've seen it before.
With all the light pollution Brum isn't the best place for astronomical observation. I miss the starry sky on the beach of the island where I grew up. (I wanted to be either an archaeologist or an astronomer when I was 10. Any job that starts with 'A'.)
* pull some clothes on! Do you think anyone wants to see that?

I would tell my 10 year-old self one thing:
All the work in the virus labs does pay off.

Just got a Tesco slot for 28th! They evaporated like snow on the hillside... Another white night... 4 layers of bandaging in 27.5c heat etc. etc. whenever I get a little down, which isn't often, I watch clips from LotR; I still think this is the most epic moment in the Return of the King as the death of Boromir is in Fellowship and Haldír at Helm's Deep in The Two Towers*. Why? Because courage is only real in the face of fear and these remind me my last battle is yet to come, whenever I hear the beat of the Nazgûl's wings.
Son foul slain by orcs Hope dead with his only heir Still for honour fought *I know, I know
