The optical drive on my PS2 works fine As does that on my PS3 As does that on my PS4. I seem to have lost my late 90s discman, but that was working fine a few years ago. Maybe it is because I don't try to explore the audio visual properties of chewing gum? reactionary oaf! abandon your preconceived notions of the possible; do not compromise with mere reality! Half a pack of doublemint in the HDMI port and you’ll realise this is all a facade, a shell! Speaking of which, does it have usb-c, does anyone know? |

As of now, Sony has only confirmed the existence of two ports on both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – a USB port and a USB-C port, CNN reports. Both the USB port and USB-C will be located at the front of the PS5 console. It’s also expected the consoles will have ports for its power cable, HDMI, and ethernet located at the back, though nothing official has been confirmed. The DualSense controller will charge by using a USB-C port.
It does though the USBC port is used by the charger

I have eaten too many Jolly Ranchers and now have a headache. Coming into the office two days a week isn't good for my health. Nothing to do with public transport/Covid etc. It's going to the nearest shop - Poundland - and buying crisps/chocolate/pop*. *It's not called pop round here. I'm trying to blend in. |

Oh no. Looks like I'm posting right in the middle of another pundemic.
So, PS5 hype. I've still only watched half of the presentation, but from what I've gathered it's all good. Digital version only, no thank you, I need the disc drive for all the PS4 games I'm not going to play. The question is whether I'll make it through another Sony generation without actually buying the ruddy, sorry, blue-ish thing. First I'll need a 4k screen, don't I? We'll see. I'm certainly not joining the pre-order scrum.
The dinky little all-digital Xbox thingy, on the other hand, is also very tempting. For the first time in my life seriously tempted to become a three console owner, which would be insane considering what my backlog is like on only one. So in the end, probably no change.
Speaking of consoles, yesterday in Keza's beginner's guide to gaming article the PC Master Race was out in force. One PC Aryan who was accusing Keza of shilling for console manufacturers was FRANKed immediately. Amusing.
Just come back from the Nintendo partner showcase or whatever they are calling these mini-Directs these days. The motto was clearly: "In before the Tokyo Game Show". So, there's Monster Hunter. And then there's another Monster Hunter. And a really nice collector's edition of both Ori games that I probably won't get because I already have the first one (I think? I need to check. This is how bad the backlog is).
Tomorrow my copy of Super Mario 3D All-Stars should arrive by mail.
OTTM: today the milkman failed in his delivery. Rationing my last pint. Broken Britain.

Monster Hunter looks tremendous, and the Stories games are actually quite good. Very pumped for both. Hades is apparently also top banana. I'd buy Ori 2 but likewise have yet to finish the first. Looks very pretty though. I was tempted by the Xbox Series One S (the small one) as gamepass is a fantastic deal, and I want to play Flight Simulator. However it looks like much of it will be streamable from xCloud, so I wonder if it is worth it. I may still succumb. PS5 would be up in the air if it wasn't for Demon's. You don't necessarily need a 4K TV, some of the games still give a choice between 4K30fps or 1080p60fps, so should look decent on an older TV. On a completely unrelated matter, I'm trying to think why we need to buy a HDR 4KTV despite currently having no devices capable of outputting 4K or HDR, preferably at some point before a day in November, say 19th November. I don't know I'm just throwing out dates. Maybe definitely before 19th November. |
