Spag Bol for tea. No mushrooms though. That would be bizarre I chickened out in going out, decided on some kind of shepherds pie thing instead, which is probably cottage pie. I know there is a difference - something to do with horse cow meat and baby lambs. Oh well I'll just 'chuck' it together and see what happens. I'm glad you're ok tenthenemy I'm mean really who though there was a difference between the two in the first place - insanity. PS I don't eat houses.

Rolling there trying to be the Scottish Andy Murray. Dodgy hip, dour demeanour, no chance of getting into the top 100? Checks out.

From the Wikipedia article "Bolognese sauce" en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolognese_sauce under the entry "Spaghetti Bolognese": You don't say. Though it had never occurred to me that one could skip the mushrooms. Supermarket shelves empty or dislike of fungi?

My daughters dislike mushrooms. in any case I've just never put mushrooms in.
Minced beef, blitzed onion, garlic and carrots, tomato puree, oregano, passata and milk. Slow cooked for 90 minutes..
Usually served with spaghetti, though I realise tagliatelli is more traditional. Topped with grated parmesan.

I only ever really make ersatz bolognese because I don’t like meat, but I always put mushrooms in.
Mushrooms make the meal.

I’m watching the FA cup on the BBC.
I think Alan Shearer has seen the look of Vinnie Jones on the Brut advert and thought ‘Yes. I want that.’

What's the 'box view on celery in bolognese?

What's the 'box view on celery in bolognese? I leave it out because I don't like it. Onion, carrot and celery are traditional though. As for mushrooms, I can see them as a substitute for meat in a veggie version, but not in addition to.

What's the 'box view on celery in bolognese? Or chorizo in paella? Or the worst of all mixer in whisky.

I’m not keen on cooked celery but I can see how, chopped very finely with carrot, it could be a flavour maker.

I like whiskey with mixer. So long as the mixer is lemon juice, and sugar. No egg white though please.

Yes to celery. It's in your soffritto innit. Also have it in lots of soups as part of the base.

Jesus Christ, what kind of eldritch beast does your butcher get that from? We've always gone to Nilsen's the family butchers. That's what he said it was.

Family butcher? Thought the phrase from mindhunter was family annihilator. Sounds like it would be a bit grim, do they even turn the dog into kebab? Although the dishes in the Hannibal TV show looked so good.

My meal worked out well, (I didn't burn it either). Beef mince on the bottom fried in herbs, black pepper, and a dash of cajon, green beans and peas with Fried onions, fresh diagonal cut carrots and mashed potato on top. I thought I hadn't made enough but it turns out I made enough for two, Same again tomorrow I think.
