Morning all.
My evening could have been better. I felt adrift: lost at sea. My seemingly set-in-stone plans washed out of my mind and replaced with ghosts of ideas.
TVblog: Friends, of all things. Not my choice, I assure you.
Amigablog: downloads some demos from the Scene to watch. Alas, supplied as ADFs - which are fine if you’re emulating, but my A1200T’s floppy drive doesn’t seem to want to write valid disks anymore. I must look into that. Ended up playing Ambermoon, a seriously impressive RPG. Some very interesting gameplay mechanics. I died against the first spider I encountered. 4*

I made another curry - a 'curry' with the master-sauce yesterday. It was ok. It resulted in a thick, bhuna-like gravy. It was similar to a take-away curry but I think ... on balance ... I prefer the curries detailed by Madhur Jaffrey. Madhur Jaffrey knows what she's talking about. Moribund chat. I am fully invested in currychat. I feel that you are on the cusp of a grand discovery.

I'm considering pouring the master-sauce into a patch of the garden to enrich the soil.

I have a recipe book from The Spicery and a few tubs of their pre-mixed spices. Most are excellent and the Chicken Balti was superb. I tend to make my own now as opposed to getting takeaways.

I can get acceptable results by: - Roasting the vegetables separately
- Popping mustard seeds, adding curry leaves, asafoetida, onion and garlic, and ... other ... spices (usually aleppo pepper, cumin and turmeric)
- Thickening the sauce with tomato, coconut milk or ... 'master-sauce'
- Possibly adding sugar and vinegar or lemon juice
- Adding the vegetables into the sauce for another ten minutes' cooking
I'm beginning to wonder if the key is ... a new master-sauce. Not this slapdash compromise sauce I cobbled up.

I have also started using bouillon powder instead of salt.

Crank - I have this as my keyboard:{snip} Please bear in mind all mechanical keyboards cause a right racket when typing I have looked at that keyboard. I ended up getting a (no doubt fake) Royal Kludge RK61 from bang good or whatever it's called for about £35 - it's arriving some time in the next millennium when I've forgotten about it. Noise? Pfffft. So you've not desoldered the switches and replaced them with cherry pink silent ones, added damping rings, lubed the switches and put some foam inside the case? Do you even game? Here's a 3080 for you... www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/lpqiek/a_spinning_rtx3080_vga_keycap_ftw/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb

The easiest way to get a curry to taste like a take away is add half a pack of butter to the recipe.
Unless it is a massala etc in which case you should add half a pint of cream as well.

Is a curry master sauce this lockdowns sourdough? Have I missed something?
Talking of which I'm looking at making bagels at home. Seem simple enough. Famous last words.

I realise the term 'master-sauce' looks suspicious.
The internet refers to it as 'BIR base-sauce' (British Indian Restaurant base-sauce).

I think the key to great curries might be having a gas stove like the after-burner of a MIG-19.

Gawd. I'd love to go for a couple of pints and then pop into the Dhabba on Candelriggs for their Monkfish from the Tandoor and piles of other stuff. Drooling. When's lunch?

Well Star has been added to Disney+ and it has all of American Dad and Family Guy, so that's my day time viewing sorted.

Is there a reliable Amiga emulator? I want to play Football Masters, but it all seems a bit convoluted.

Last night I drank some beer that my friend had made at home and given me a 2 litre plastic bottle of. Pouring that into a pint glass gave me a proustian pub flashback much stronger than the standard lockdown can-swigging routine. Next time I'm going to complete the experience by turning the telly up too loud and getting a couple of old guys to shout drunkenly at each other through my letterbox.

Legal question, the woman who owned the house before us got into a car accident shortly after the move, but hasn’t changed her address with the insurance company, and a cheque has just arrived covering her insurance excess. How has it got to two months later and she hasn’t changed her address?
I guess it’s not a legal question really, just baffling and infuriating. And now I need to sellotape the envelope back up and send it back to the insurance company.

Trying to get a £55 refund from British Gas is proving harder than I thought. Agent 'Vandana' spent more time flirting with me than actually doing anything worthwhile.
There are downsides to being Mr Tids, I suppose...

I think maybe just tape it up and send it back.
A five minute job. Maybe 15 minutes if the post box is far away.

We’ve sent hundreds of letters back to sender. We did look it up and found out that it is ok if you think there’s a reasonable cause. So we’ve opened some as there’s a possibility they’ve missed payments and we don’t want bailiffs coming to us. Open it up, and seal back up, send it back saying opened in error.

Why open someone else's post?
That's something I don't understand. That's something I'll never understand.
