I've just taken delivery of a book called Columbus and other cannibals.
I really think cannibalism's having a moment right now.

RollingEscargot You can still get all your music back from Google. If you, err Google "Google Takeout" you can grab all your music and download it. It comes down as a pile of zip files and unzips into a folder called 'tracks' with all the files. They're not split into folders as you'd expect but you can either point a music player at the folder it sorts it out for you. Or with some freeware you can sort the files into folders using the MP3 metadata. Aha, right, will try that. I did transfer it all to youtube and it seemed to work for a while, but now it's acting as if the library doesn't exist. I am probably going to bite the bullet and get one of those home server things.

I'm fairly sure there's no evidence for Cristoforo Colombo being a cannibal.
I've just checked ...
The book is playing fast and loose with the definition of cannibalism.

anyone ...
anyone read a good book recently?
I'm in a funk - flailing around hoping for something to grab me. This one looks ok. An account of the monster Columbus.
I don't even know what I want.

CurryChat: What's wrong with a Curry Pot Noodle? It comes with a sachet of mango sauce and everything.

It's Bin night* and the tension is rising, will the neighbour steal the food caddy tomorrow?
May have to stay up all night.
*Yes it is, there was a poll and everything; conducted by Mr Shenguin.

Currychat: I made a curry for dinner. Not in competition with lazybones, you understand: more likely the curry chat had permeated my mind, and I could think of nothing else to cook. Leftover chicken from Sunday’s roast, chickpeas, roasted sweet potato and sweet peppers. It was good. Really good.

I always read other people's mail. It's what Assyriologists do.
It's entertaining to read about couples having a marital 4,000 years ago. I'm like an agony aunt who is way too late with her advice ("just dump him, you stupid cow").

CurryChat: What's wrong with a Curry Pot Noodle? It comes with a sachet of mango sauce and everything. I went to the spice shop at lunchtime, and bought some spices for the currys I was hoping to make: - Kashmiri chilli
- Fennel
- Fenugreek
I'm pretty pumped. I also bought: A large Chicken and Mushroom Pot Noodle. I came to home to eat it all up with extra soy sauce. Boodiful (kiss bunched fingers emoji)

Or was it more like you keep the David Gray CDs, I'll have Mesopotamia, plus I will flay you alive?

Were the Assyrians the worshipers of the macho Griffin?

They had a limited run of Doner Kebab flavour ones once. Disgusting. A finer reverse ferret my tongue has never done.

In Babylonia, the area south of Baghdad where hardwood is a rare and precious commodity, this often included the front door, thus leaving her ex with an empty door frame, a draughty house, and no defence against burglars. Not that there was anything left to burgle. During the Old Assyrian period around 1900 BCE, whoever initiated the divorce usually had to pay the other party a substantial amount of money, so it was a question of who blinked first.

(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamassu) Lamassu or Shedu - Sumerian (I googled it to be sure as I first thought it was Persian) like my face I know.

Leftover chicken from Sunday’s roast, chickpeas, roasted sweet potato and sweet peppers. It was good. Really good. and what were the spices/herbs used? Cumin, coriander, a bit of chilli, a few wholegrain peppers, and some curry powder. The sauce was started with half an onion, a few garlic cloves, and a chunk of ginger blended to a fine paste. This was cooked until almost dry, before I added the slices to fry for a bit. Then some chicken stock - a cube of Oxo, and a couple of tablespoons of actual chicken stock from Sunday’s bird. Once that had reduced, a can of coconut milk went in, and the whole lot was left to bubble along while the veg roasted.
