If temperatures rise and glacial ice continues to melt, with the consequent flooding of lowland areas, will there be a plague of crocodiles? I once read something that suggested there was a plague of crocodiles in ancient times, due to flooding (possibly down to El Niño events). This is why there are legends of sea monsters.

I remember someone linking the plagues of Egypt as a naturally occuring series of events. As for sea monsters, the Ancient Greeks thought dinosaur remains could be monsters.

I've read kane's post several times now, and I think it may be his birthday. If so, happy birthday Kane. Although I don't really understand how you can have your 21st birthday in your 55th year. my 34th year was 2000 ad, my 55th year was 2021 ad - 2021 - 2000 = 21. I may be popping to the local hardware store for some mirror screws and rubber mounts, weather depending, otherwise I shall entertain myself reading the blog and watching YT, or a film. I was going to wear my kilt but I think I'll give it a miss this year. When are we free of this lockdown nonsense?

Imagine though ... You're living in a Mycenaean village. Every week a saltwater crocodile walks up onto the beach, into the village and drags someone away. A crone, delirious with vapours from a local cave, tells you that you have to tie someone naked on the beach for the crocodile to eat. There is your legend of the monster.
