I remember someone linking the plagues of Egypt as a naturally occuring series of events. As for sea monsters, the Ancient Greeks thought dinosaur remains could be monsters.
There is your legend of the monster.
The Kraken being a case in point, tying a fair maiden to a post on the shore line to appease the beastie. (I've seen Pirates of the Caribbean).

Ozymandias KaneHappy Birthday. Have you read Robert Howard's stories of Solomon Kane? No but I do remember a film of the same name which I think I've seen, can't remember much about it though.

The stories are good, on the whole. Though maybe best to leave the ones based in Africa to the end (grimace teeth emoji).

Been there done that, the ex-wife took everything (literally). It was my fault, I was working too many hours and we drifted apart.

If temperatures rise and glacial ice continues to melt, with the consequent flooding of lowland areas, will there be a plague of crocodiles? I once read something that suggested there was a plague of crocodiles in ancient times, due to flooding (possibly down to El Niño events). This is why there are legends of sea monsters.
Is this 'OTTM'? ...
I don't know ... Weather chat? ...
One thing's for sure, crocs know how to have fun.

I dislike crocodiles immensely. In fact, sometimes I think it would be better if they were all dead.

If we vote I expect there are more crocodiles than there are of you.

Imagine though ... You're living in a Mycenaean village. Every week a saltwater crocodile walks up onto the beach, into the village and drags someone away. A crone, delirious with vapours from a local cave, tells you that you have to tie someone naked on the beach for the crocodile to eat. There is your legend of the monster.
Have you been eating Revels? You know what they did to Crank. A bad business.

I played half an hour of Resident Evil 4 at lunchtime.
I like this a lot. What a game. Not adverse to having an antagonist chain-saw away your character's head at a moment's notice. It's happy to give you a whaling mini-game (albeit with a big salamander). It has button-mashing a plenty.

Being a croc would be pretty good.
Bask in sun all day Allowed to kill and eat enemies Good diet of eggs Antediluvian views a benefit
Just avoid handbag/shoe makers and you are good to go for up to 120 years or so.

Back in the village. The winds of the Aegean blowing through the olive trees.

I'm pretty sure Mycenae is half way up a mountain, nowhere near a beach. It's quite a walk up to the Lion Gate.
No wonder the crocodile wanted the victims brought to him rather than climbing from the beach to the city
