Hi
I’m on my way to Birmingham.
Not much sleep. There’s a new party flat down the corridor and from about half past two last night there were lots of people coming and going. They’re weren’t fighting and shouting so it’s an improvement on the other flat, and it was Friday night, but … my sleep was impaired. It was radically reduced.
Can you believe there’s nothing on the BBC broadcast news about the, ahem… Pentagon Report?
Is it not quite significant that there are unidentified aircraft in American airspace, some of them with seemingly very high capabilities and unrecognised technology? I mean at the very least it identifies a big gap in US military intelligence.
I don’t know … maybe it’s just a wheeze for the armed forces to get more dough.
Although … I remember when I was reading the rich and detailed account of the Spanish conquest of the Mexica / Aztec empire. There always seemed to be a question - why did the Mexica not really act when the mystery ships turned up on the coast?
I can’t really bring myself to take this stuff too seriously but … I imagine there were many people who felt a similar way, in Tenochtitlan, 500 years ago …

lazybonesThe Pentagon UFO report is just like watching The X Files - you keep expecting them to reveal the truth, only to have that particular can booted down the road.

I suppose they may have been having a bit of a moving-in party? Either way, one to watch. If they continue down this path, they may have to go on the list.

I always kind of assumed UFOs to be phantoms of the mind. People thought they were aliens because we live in an age of very limited space exploration. In the 50s and 60s that was the sort of … paradigm … in America and Europe anyway.
I don’t know …
I mean people have been reporting these things for hundreds of years but usually within the limits of the world views they had: Angels, flying charioteers (I don’t have much evidence for this).
If the world is just a collective apes’ dream then these strange sightings are part of the dream.
But … I thought this report was … interesting … because it begins to take the sightings from the realm of the ludicrous and also identifies them as due to actual physical phenomena …

I saw a programme with Danny Dyer once where some UFO enthusiasts took him out to the desert in Arizona and they saw strange dots of light above a mountain in the dusk. He was completely convinced. Food for thought.

There’s a good documentary by Shaun Ryder about UFOs.

I once saw what I had taken to be a star move very rapidly from a stationary point in the night sky to another stationary point. I assumed it was a satellite but, in retrospect, I don’t think satellites move like that.

I posted something on the box late last night about some things I saw in the sky a few decades ago. I deleted it, I censored myself. It was for the best.

We've been quite chatty over the last 2 weeks, here is a table of the number of pages of pure chat gold that was created compared to the same time last year, (2021 first):

Once at night, outside on a balcony, I saw a dagger-shaped object before me, it's handle turned towards my hand. In retrospect, I think it was probably a visual hallucination, as I was under a lot of pressure at the time with work stuff and a very naggy pushy preferred mammal.
Re the UAPs, the disparate variety of possible explanations shows our lack of understanding: alien technology, highly advanced human tech, US faking it, plausible human technology developed to spoof highly advanced tech, mis-identification of known phenomena / tech, sensor errors, hallucinations and confusion, unusual atmospheric phenomena.
It's quite likely that one or a combination of these are the real cause of each of the sightings. I'd be pretty certain the first two I've listed, aliens and highly advanced human tech, don't form any part of the genuine explanations. And that the later explanations I've listed are far more likely explanations, singly or in combination, for each sighting.

I'm ok with the idea of alians but I'm not sure that I'd accept an invite to visit. They do seem to be a bit fixated about probing people's orifices if we are to believe those that have been abducted by them. All the time their just flying around I'm fine with it, but as soon as those probes come out I'm doing a runner.

I think maybe we share the world with strange shadow beings we rarely see. In the same way that chimpanzees share the world with us. Who knows how they interpret human visits?
Maybe there are beings beneath the sea. In the depths of the Pacific.
With … flying submersibles …

Yes, although they don't give much detail about what that means. They haven't given (or I haven't seen) estimates of size, distance or speed, which suggests they either a) don't want to, or b) the sensor lock on them wouldn't keep Picard happy. As soon as you've got an object on 2 separate cameras, then you can calculate location, speed and size (albeit with a margin of error). Maybe some of the sightings are buoyant plasma balls, vaporised silicon aerosol clouds, or naturally forming lumps of Rydberg matter. I don't know how those things would be picked up by US sensing equipment. Anywhichway, Washington should definitely give more money to the US military. That's the one message and interpretation that is clear and obvious.

Best UFO related story I have.
I studied Psychology at degree level. One module was the Paranormal Psychology (basically how those theories were debunked)
The lecturer went around the class asking if, anyone had experienced a poltergeist and giving the newer psychological theory of why people "experience" it.
Then, he got to alien abduction.
"Has anyone been abducted by aliens?" Slight grin on face not expecting anyone to say yes.
A woman put her hand up.
Smile went away "well.....recent studies have shown this could be caused by false memories caused by child abuse or a sexual assault.
So, very, awkward.

Just bought Far Cry 5 in the steam sale. Hopefully some redneck rootin' tootin' shootin' tonight!
Hello. Games.Wee bit of TD2 last night. Finishing side missions etc.
TV. Some streaming Glasto from the 90s. Some of it I was actually in the crowd. (Spoiler. Not Radiohead)
Then another episode of Your Honor.
The child is impatiently waiting on a delivery from Jeff of two books she'll arse by about Tuesday. If only there was a place you could borrow books from and return them when finished.
