Hi
I celebrated too much and don't feel great today. But Lord Harry and the chaps gone and did the footy! I think maybe Harry of Nazareth has an inner ear infection.

I'm hoping that Italy employ skullduggerous tactics on Sunday. Maybe one of their players will elbow Harry Kane in the solar plexus before falling over and clutching their face, to win a goal-scoring free-kick. I need England to be the good guys.

I think the pace of the modern of the game and the zero tolerance for pushing, shoving, knocking, tripping etc...has led to a situation where teams have to pick and time their challenges very well. England in particular have mastered the art of winning the free kick. The game at the higher levels is about an attacking player finding contact in the box or near it. Contact isn't necessarily a foul, footballers now sell contact better than any WWE wrestler could dream of. |

We'll get a better idea when the players leave the tunnel. If England ignore the fans, pull the signs out of their hands and laugh at them they are the bad guys. If they come out to upbeat music and pause for pics and do a running high five along a section of them then they are the good guys. |

I know I'm sounding a bit curmudgeonly about the game last night. I thought, by the end, England were looking like the better team, and actually Raheem Sterling was fantastic. I don't think he necessarily dived but it didn't seem like a foul to me. It didn't seem like 'foul play'. It didn't seem foule and noisome.
What I'm saying is that I think England should have won. I just wish it had been achieved in a more lion-hearted way.

Hello all.
TVblog: watched the first episode of The Watch, with characters “inspired by Terry Pratchet’s Discworld” books. Sort of a cyberpunk/fantasy world that doesn’t quite evoke the Anhk-Morpork of my mind. Vimes is suitably bedraggled though.
Amigablog: I’ve just realised the the SD-card for my brother has some filename issues. Amiga Workbench/fast file system combo is limited to 30 characters, and some game installs are bigger than this.
This means that when the game launcher runs its scan, it missed some directories because it can’t find a .slave file. Hmm…

Watched the game, England were stronger over all for sure.
The Danish substitutions were a mistake, they created nothing after that and were no real threat.
But...England failed to score from open play against them. An own goal and a shitly taken non-penalty. Plus they couldnt score against the mighty Scotland so they may have peaked against the Germans.
I do feel that The Danes being knocked out by such a terribly obvious dive is a bit unjust. The booing of the anthem, the booing of the knee, the laser pens in the eyes and the constant diving makes it feel that England were the bad guys last night.
I guess anything can happen on Sunday though. Southgate is a good guy so I'd be happy for him if they got a result.

There is too much truth in this...  In '74, I was interviewed with three others for a library job in Surrey... In the group interview one of the interviewees - a pallid girl with thick glasses and a tic - turned around, hung over the back of her chair looking away from the group. She refused, when asked to join the group to do so. Asked why, she shook her head violently and tittering* angrily said:
"It's all a load of fucking bollocks."
She got a job in cataloguing (crankcaller will no doubt affirm that this is where the library authority hides its headcases). A year later she tried to stab a friend of mine in the stacks. Even then she wasn't fired!
