Surely the ref felt guilty for not giving the clear penalty on Harry H Christ, plus giving the free kick to Denmark (from which they scored) for what was less of a foul than the one on Razza for the pen.
ROAAAAAAARRR!

If I hear another winging minger moaning about the penalty contact on sterling I'm going to spit nails. Why is it none of you can take 5 mins to observe the contact on him in slo mo on YouTube, (hence my post this morning). Pay attention to the details people - it matters. Kane. Did you see the 2 balls on the pitch details just before Sterlings obvious dive? Or does that detail not matter? Anyone can chuck themselves on the ground and touch another players leg to make contact, the trick is to be good enough at it to con the ref into thinking its a penalty. England vs Italy should be a masterclass.

Kane is absolutely right. It was a penalty.
The real question is whether or not it should have been a penalty.
The answer is no.

You're drunk on patriotism. There was a small amount of contact but not enough to impede him ... The attempts to tackle him didn't seem careless, from what I could see ... In the YT that I posted earlier, when you go to 2 mins 45 secs and run it at 0.25 speed from the playback speed in the settings - you can clearly see that the player on his right (nearest to the camera) has his hand at Sterling's back and the player on his left (furthest from the camera) has his knee making contact with Sterling's kneecap, 'dead legging him. I grant you it is momentary and takes a moment to see it but it's there. The players would know how to do this without being caught doing it by the Ref but the VAR would have picked it up quite quickly. I also used a magnifier on my PC to see it better.

ROAAAAAAARRR! That's right. The referee was all over the place. I think .... What if ... it's possible? ... He was bribed. Bribed to give a penalty for England, but he concealed what he was up to by giving those strange decisions to Denmark.

I was. I even made a hyperpatriotic GIF (too big to upload). I'm beating a drum for British fair play. Ach - it doesn't exist does it? ....

Even Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon agreed that it wasnt a penalty on Harry Kane and that he'd kicked the Danish player. Which was a bit weird given the other 99.9% of what they were gibbering about the rest of the game.

The extra ball on the pitch doesn't automatically stop the game apparently.
As for the pen, it was funny listening to the pundits largely avoid the question because it went for England.
As I said I expect England fans who thought it was fine etc to be totally ok when it happens against their club next season. If it had gone against us no pundit or England fan would have voiced any defence. There would have been outrage.
Not that it matters much but the fact that this in general has been normalised on such a grand scale has me losing the appetite for the game. It's about anticipating contact or inviting it as much as any other skill set.

This is going to look messy but this is the best I can do at such short notice. You may have to fiddle about a bit but I have highlighted the contact with green rings. Basically they made initial contact then and made him turn into the next contact causing it to look as though it was his fault, a classic 'wasn't me guv' maneuver.

I was expecting the VAR people to overrule but they said it has to be an 'obvious' mistake to overrule, which I didnt quite get. So if the ref was missighted and it was an understandable mistake they cant overrule? Or if it was convincing enough a dive? enough screaming that they believe its painful etc?

Amipals souped up Atari shown up by a floppy drive? Hot-unplugging? He’s a mad-man. This was in the day and age when data controllers existed on the devices themselves, and weren’t managed completely by the CPU. Hence why SCSI was a much better experience than IDE/PATA.

Win or lose on Sunday, I'd not like to have an Italian car being MOT'd on Monday. p.s. Why are Russia in the Euros? Russia is in Europe. Half in Europe. I'm not quite sure where Europe starts. Somewhere in Russia. Just outside the gates of Moscow, the farthest point east* where Hitler’s panzers got to. *this is incorrect. The easternmost point of the German advance was in the northern Caucuses region of the Soviet Union.

Hello.
I am not hungover. For the first time in a long time I went to bed at a sensible time and had a good night's sleep. Which means that Priti Awful will probably tell me that my lack of patriotism is concerning and if I wish to stay in the country I better find myself jumping into the canal at Brindleyplace in my underwear to celebrate England's win.*
During the second half I was mostly on the phone to my Scottish sister-in-law and doing a live commentary as she wasn't watching.
Breakfast: Welsh cakes with English butter, and that's only because Lurpak was out of stock. I told you I was a traitor.**
Lunch: Humous, falafel, tomato & cucumber in a flatbread.
*such were the scenes in Birmingham last night
**since I was born on an island that has essentially one half sticking into Danish territory I sometimes have Danish leanings. I also like pizza, pasta, and Peroni.
