Went to the pub (The Stapylton if Destry knows it)for a family meal, first time since Jan 2020. I know the Stap. My sister and brothers live in Normanby and Eston respectively. My dad lived in Normanby. Not been up there much recently though, especially since it became a Brexit supporting, Tory voting wasteland.

I see Afghanistan is a thing again, almost as if the state of continous conflict wasnt just a theory. Biden's first major fuck up. All planned. Need them troops rested for whoever it is they've already got lined up in the laser sights. Guaranteed invasion somewhere in 2022. Amurica! Fuck yeah!

Afghanistan is a true fuck up in so many ways.
My wife has been trying to organise visas for people desperate to get out all weekend. Those that had come to rely on support from western powers for the past 20 years. For others she's only been able to advise them to destroy any files and paperwork they have linking themselves with educating women and children. Some of the phone calls I've heard have been awful.
All while Raab is on holiday. What a cunt's cunt.

Hi
Watched cricket. Cleaned and trimmed my onions and garlic (ooerr). Read the Jay Rayner review - delicious. Had a nap. A real lazy day. Might play games or watch a film later.
Hope you're all well.

Happy Birthday, Sir Walter Scott... He was born on 15 August 1771 in the Old Town, Edinburgh, but rose above this. Here's his eventual home Abbotsford - this year they are having the first ever Scottfest...

I did not have Silcox down as the most likely 'boxer to be in a relationship with a document forger and people smuggler.
I did have Sheep2 down as the 'boxer most likely to distil a complex and dangerous situation down to a mere banalities, without regard for the welfare of Afghan people, particularly women and children.
I guess I lost one bet with myself, and won one bet with myself.

Still, I understand Waverly is the only fictional character after which a railway station has been named. That's cool.

“We haven't heard from the Foreign Secretary in about a week - despite this being the biggest single policy disaster since Suez.”
Not my words, the words of 'top Tory', and Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Tom Tughendat.

I was listening to these phone calls whilst reading guides to demon's souls. On a plus note, I do now know how to get the large sword of moonlight. Though I do feel awful about it.

The Afghan army was trained in counter-insurgency using modern tactics used by NATO militaries. That means utilising aerial recon, intelligence, artillery support, close air support, logistics and much much more. It wasn’t just the US pulling their troops out. It was all of the above that a modern military relies on to fight, win, and hold ground.

Piran alerted authorities as soon as they realised their pouch opener and kitty litter cleaner was missing, 'cause that's, like, illegal.

But not in the proximity required for CAS. There’s no point calling in support if aircraft are over an hour away.
