amipal - pierce the plastic film several times and cook it in the plastic. Don't remove the film lid and leave it 10-15 seconds so the plastic tray regains its rigidity. Just shorten the cooking time by about 5-10%... It is more the concern of microwaving plastic and possible leeching of chemicals into food than anything else. You are probably more at risk from electricity jumping from overhead power cables into your brain when you pass underneath them. |

Hullo. I started watching 'The Foreigner' last night. I'm liking it so far. Cleared out the spice cupboard, and found out of date porridge oats as well as a half bag of brown sugar, and 3 (count ‘em) opened tins of golden syrup.
Not wishing to upset the karmic balance, I am making flapjacks with my unexpected ingredients.
I am also drinking home-brew (2020 elderflower champagne), if only to free up my Newcastle brown bottles in readiness for this springs harvest.

Has anyone ever eaten / cooked / prepared a 'stovie'?
I have a recollection of seeing a young chef on Masterchef: The Professionals outline his plan to cook a 'stovie' for Michel Roux Junior. Michel Roux Junior's eyes twinkled at the prospect, but sadly the dish was not enough to put the young chef through.
We have a surfeit of potatoes in the flat. I'm considering cooking a 'stovie.'
