Bce = before common era. CE= common era (replaces AD). It's been in use for a good while, 99% of people don't care but those that do care quite a lot. So I was wrong? Looks like you're one of the 1%

No shade but I'd rather hear that from Scamander

It is slightly odd that BCE has replaced BC as the two abbreviations are obviously closely related. I'm sure it was something I knew about at school when studying ancient history*.
* to be fair that was so long ago it was just history then

Pretty sure I used BCE and CE when studying for my A-levels, and it was unusual enough to raise eyebrows. I think by the time I left University it was much more common.
For context, I am considerably younger than Sheep.

Can anyone fact-check Shenguin's claims to have popularised 'BCE' through his use of the term in A-level and university essays?

I remember it being something that became more usual in the 1990s, so the chronology stacks up.

(The 1990s CE, I mean, I am also younger than Sheep).

Christ was just another common garden bloodsucking, mind controlling, reptilian humanoid who invaded Earth from his base on the space station, which we call the moon.

Benefit Crystallisation Event This is the correct answer. Cashing in your pension (or transferring it overseas) is more important than Before Christ or whatever.

(The 1990s CE, I mean, I am also younger than Sheep). I resent it when people treat things I have a memory of as if they are historical events rather then something modern. Also yesterday Nottingham Forest had a player whose dad used to play for them. I don't mind that, but his dad was younger than you.

I'm pretty sure I'm older than Sheep, do I win a prize? A vase, possibly an urn. The first date on it is almost certainly BCE.
