I have a friend who used to be in the Royal Marines. He also did private security work after he left them. Some of his anecdotes after a few beers are not particularly light-hearted or amusing. I'm not convinced warfare is that good for the combatant's long term mental health.

Had an uncle who spent time in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. Fucked him up good and proper. My mum still hasn't forgiven the Japanese.

I remember meeting my father's uncle when I was young, he lied about his age and signed up to fight in the Boar war aged 14. He was about a 100 when I met him.

My dad was a horticulturalist, who ended up teaching in an 'Approved School', where one day one of the little scrotes pulled out a pistol and shot him in class, leading to a complete nervous breakdown.
To recuperate he became groundsman at a moated estate for some ennobled toffs, and we lived rent free in their gatehouse in lieu of payment, while he worked 80 hours a week on the estate.
The only children within 3 miles were the 3 daughters of the toffs, all of whom had the title of 'Lady', and had little time to have anything to do with the gardeners scruffy son.
My mum was evacuated from South London to Yorkshire, just in time to avoid the V2 which flattened the street she lived on. Luckily both her parents were out when it hit.

That article is such a load of bollocks. I went to Yugoslavia with my parents when Tito was still dictator and it was definitively a police state, with the constituent intermixed racial groups left after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire being controlled with the machinery of the police state, with the apparatus of state-controlled media. We were shadowed everywhere and my father gave up taking photos there after he was required to expose his second roll of film. If Vladimir Golstein loves Russia so much he should fuck off back there. |

If by "interesting" you mean "terrible" you are certainly right. You are better off reading Wikikane articles on Kosovo. Anyways, if the claim that Donbass and Kosovo are the same is so compelling I'm sure that Russia will lose no time now in finally recognising Kosovo as an independent state. |
