Morning all!
Had a few goes at Ricky this morning, and got him down to a sliver twice, only to be whacked into oblivion. Jelly cooperation seems to help a lot. Might try the skellingtons later.

Morning all I have been in the office an hour. I have made coffees for the team, made a big bowl of porridge, and done less work than I do when I’m working from home. It's good t have you back in. I could do with another coffee.

Considered getting a dog - a Bassett Hound (sadly unrepresented at Crufts). Don't mess about Lazy, get an Akita and never look back...

When I'm working from home (like now) I sit on the bed, with the window to the left. Occasionally I glance out and my eyes go to someone at a window in the building opposite, one floor up. They seem to be there quite a lot. Are they smoking, cleaning the window, watering a plant? Or are they watching me, steadily, insistently. Day after day after day?...
There they are again.
No they've gone.

Glorious sunny day here. Marvelous stuff.
I am of course stuck inside working, but if I get a chance I will remain inside to play computer games.
3 days of sobriety ahead of me now.

GamesI spent some time playing 1v1 'build fights' on Fortnite. I want building to become second nature. To take me to 'the next level'. It was quite diverting. I did that once, it was just kids immediately building over me before easily killing me with a single shot. This is what Fortnite was like before the bots and the matchmaking.

Audiobooks I have been listening to Andy Serkis reading Tolks. He is mostly excellent, but I can't understand why Pippin is clearly Scottish. The other hobbits have rural English accents, but Pippin trills his r's and is clearly not from the same bit of the Shire as the other hobbits. The only explanation is that Andy is reading Pippin as Billy Boyd. Which is a bit odd. It is however helpful in clearly distinguishing who is speaking.
4* excellent if you like that sort of thing.

I didn't have much of an opinion on Andy Serkis until I watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War on the Planet of the Apes recently. He is extremely serious as an ape. He also plays Caesar, in much the same way he plays King Kong: The same facial expressions. Lots of scowling and snorting. I think maybe he was phoning the performance in.
I don't know ... Maybe it's because I was comparing him to Toby Kebbell. Toby Kebbell gives good ape.

Because Pippin (Peregrine Took) comes from a different part of the Shire and familial background (more adventurous, bigger, less thoughtful). So a slightly different accent ... “Fool of a Took!" he growled. "This is a serious journey, not a hobbit walking-party. Throw yourself in next time, and then you will be no further nuisance.”

I have also been listening to these. And it’s reinforced in my mind that Peter Jackson was absolutely right to cut out the Tom Bombadil section.

All the others speak like they are chewing a straw and considering if the scrumpy is ready. There is no accent difference mentioned in the book. Scubar Singing the part of Tom Bombadil is a strong effort. This is authentic to the book.

If anyone is interested the complete recordings by Frank Black & The Catholics is available to download from Qobuz for £6.49. It's about £50 on CD. It's in alphabetical order rather than album order which is a bit odd After downloading I rearranged it in to the albums as far as possible. It's not 100% clear where every track belongs.
If you liked the Pixies it is both pretty good value and slightly disappointing

A little more robodino pottering, is the end likely to come as in hzd, terminator or one of the generic apocalyptical current situations? Death on the Nile sat eve as a break from baby, more of an action Poirot than expected but also the jump scare was in now way related to the film. Good way to reduce the number of older people in the cinema during a film.

I didn't really like the hobbits in the Lord of the Rings films. Half sort of 'Titanic' style Irish, and half sort of Tim Martin style Daily Mail Brexiteers. I know the films came before Brexit. But maybe ... the movement started there.

He gets everywhere that detestable Schofield creature. I thought long and hard about today's tester (3 secs max). Could I find a piccy of Schofield driving an ice-cream van? Surely not. Balls.

Destry’s lord and saviour My guess is that the Green Dragon Inn targets a mass-market offering of low-price food and drink, with a large standardised menu available all day, cultivating a perception of 'unpretentious good value'.

Lewis Carrol and Tolkien used to attend the same pub, books about small men spending all their time together and LC's interest in small children taking perception altering drinks might put the local spoons in a better light.
