I just spent £7.99 on an iPhone game to play on the train: Northgard. It’s making for an extremely poor gaming experience.

Phone games are wack.

Apart from accessing my NP2 games, I play Triple Town. It's free from Google Play and it's compulsive once you get into it.  I've tried a few others, but pretty quickly come back to this. You have to plan ahead and to get the really high scores way ahead... The buy in the display is game money not real cash. I once got it to over 500k.

This morning I broke an ancestral plate that was one of my most useful items of crockery (large, suitable for oven and microwave), so I'm a bit sad. But also glad, since it broke because I was using it to cushion the fall of a 1 litre bottle of olive oil. So it prevented a bigger disaster from happening. Feel free to make your own comparisons to the current geopolitical situation. Also, I still have a second plate like it. Though we don't have another Ukraine.

Games: Yesterday afternoon I kept my usual Elden Ring streamer company. Meanwhile he's level 92. It's a lot of fun although I haven't got the faintest what's going on. As he was packing it in we raided the stream of another player who was only just starting. Stayed a while to give moral support as he was getting beaten up.

Also yesterday I started working on a little project for my YouTube friend Andrew. In just under an hour we are going to continue with our playthrough of Trails in the Sky SC and he's going to once more read out all the dialogue. Now, if you don't know, the Trails series takes a lot of inspiration from French and particularly German for its names of characters, places, and move sets, and Andrew isn't familiar with either language and therefore struggles with pronunciation. So I'm currently writing the script for a recording that will give him a better idea of the pronunciation than trying to explain it in the chat.

Last night I played a bit of Animal Crossing, where the challenge was to find a new villager after I reluctantly let Tiansheng go. I just didn't feel the need for a second Jock villager (apologies to everyone currently filling in their census) after I got dreamboat Dom* by sheer coincidence.

I didn't have time on Friday and so was very relieved to see that the plot remained unsold. So until late last night I made successive trips to the islands to see whether I could find anyone who would fit into my little community of highly popular characters. Things got weird when I came across a dodgy character on a island by the name of Crimea.
