I hadn't heard of Empire Records until today, when I looked up Rex Manning. I was alive in the 1990s. This. I was very err, vacant in the 90sbhave seen it. I also was very slim due to not much eating Thursday - Mon. Chips'n'cheese is a late night Scottish delicy. When ordered, the chippy staff will usually ask "dae ye waant the cheese meltit" Chips and cheese and curry sauce is a delicious thing. I'm now wondering if I should try to rustle up a plate of it tonight.

2 x bacon 2 x sausage 2 x fried egg 2 x hash brown 2 x halves of fried bread 2 x halves of grilled tomato Baked beans
Boodiful, 5*
No games.

The curry was excellent, as was the kebab. Very full.
Possibly too full. Time will tell. I thought Jock McPlop was Scottish Pint Legend?

What is this? I keep seeing mentions of it, but haven’t a clue what it’s from. Empire Records. Think of a film from the 90’s. Then make it even more 90’s. No, even more. There you go. It’s the best. Thank you, scubar. Now we know.

For the full experience you need a full Welsh breakfast. You get laverbread and cockles with it. Even them cock-an-knees don't have their jellied eels with a full English.

Went to Italy once. School trip.
Stayed in Sorrento. Watneys Red Barrel, and a vicars daughter from Sutton Coldfield who entertained the local lads by stuffing her bra full of ice cubes.
Also went up Vesuvius. Not allowed to walk round the crater as some Swede had slid in the day before and they were still investigating. The crater ‘guide’ had some schtick where he’d show how hot the steam vents were by hard boiling an egg. A large part of this act seemed to involve him producing a cooked egg from deep under the skirt of a random teenage girl after he invited her to squat over a suitable vent. After trying this on one of our group, we saw a whole new side to a couple of our teachers, who scruffed him, and threatened him with a trip to the crater bottom.
‘Going Underground’ by The Jam was played everyfuckingwhere, so this must have been 1980.
Jumpers for goalposts etc.

Plymouth breakfast: 4 cans of White Ace and a bag of crisps.
OTTDM: Just heard a wonderful exchange between 'The Lad' & local celebrity 'Gripper'.
Laddy: I love you mate, you're my best friend EVER! Gripper: I don't like you mate. *walks off*

Speaking of crisps, I've just bought a packet of Walkers Pickled Onion crisps. Smashing.

During my student years in Leeds, (1974 or 75) studying Town Planning we had a foreign field trip booked, a week in Bologna. A group of us arranged to go out two weeks early and travelled around the country, also taking in Florence, Venice, Rome, Milan, Naples and Sorrento.
I can't remember much of it, though an ill-planned train journey on a ridiculously cramped train to Rome over the Easter weekend does stick in the mind.

Tyler Durden was a character from a film that came out in the 90's, for those who didn't watch films in the 90's Empire Records took $303,384 at the cinema. I'm not even sure it got a release in the UK. Fight Club took $101,200,000 A tiny difference

I just had a go at making Patatje Oorlog - The Dutch chips dish.
It was ok. Too much mayonnaise; I should have heated the satay sauce; I should have had more chips.
I kind of wish I’d had chips with curry sauce and cheese instead.

I tried to do a Top 5 90s films, but after a few minutes of listing possibles for consideration, I gave up. Maybe need to do it by genre, which is a whole bun fight in itself.
Total Recall Se7en Goodfellas Shawshank Silence of the Lambs The Big Lebowski Matrix (just) Friday The Phantom Menace (obvs)
Too many good fillums. They were off the top of my head. Could maybe do a Top 50.
G'night Jon Boy.

An Italian man apologised to me today in case his accent sounded odd, because he had learned to speak English by watching Peaky Blinders. He also knew a surprising amount about 'Allo 'Allo. Nadine Dorries, take note.
