Music so good even the deer loved it! (I'll post the final video, sans deer in the jukebox).

That Glastonbury looks awful. I've never been to a musical festival - they sound like a nightmare. Trapped in a field being hunted by Sting is one of my recurring dreams. I did go to a musical event once, but had a hotel room booked and left early. It was tremendous: (video censored on the grounds that it's pretentious, self-indulgent bollocks) My idea of hell are large scale events where the only guys who are enjoying themselves are up front, utterly wrecked and showing their lack of interest in the outside world by spastically jerking around whilst screaming over the 'act', pissing where they stand and groping everything in sight. Garbage in, garbage out. Now imagine the rain lashing down constantly, you are knee deep in squelchy mud and splattered everywhere with the stuff. Then you have a muddy tent to return to, which is itself lumpy with all the thick mud underneath. The bogs also bloody reek and there is no phone signal.

I have a big, easily bruised bottom - throw me cushions, a pint of morphine, Tids on noisy cunt extermination patrol and provided it's none of your arty-farty atonal Radio 3 experimental bollocks, count me in.

To be fair, I had a free ticket, hated every moment apart from the opera, wasn't dressed as smartly as most other people, and will happily shoot most of the fuckers there come the revolution, comrade.
They didn't have sniffer dogs, and I didn't take anything illegal.

Do you guys have any tips for thickening a home made curry sauce? Currently considering using a few spoons of mashed potato.

Do you guys have any tips for thickening a home made curry sauce? Currently considering using a few spoons of mashed potato. I’ve seen powdered almond? Maybe? Powdered cashew? More powdered spice will also do it. Heaps of powdered cumin. I’m sure there’s a better option. Tomato puree? …

Pureed onion will work. But you need to cook it a bit to get rid of the ‘raw onion’ taste.

Cornflour will do it if you don't want to add flavour. You might end up with something a bit gloopy if you aren't careful. You can use ordinary flour, but you have to be more careful it doesn't lump.
Lentils will also thicken the sauce.
Or just let the sauce reduce for a while.
Alternatively curry soup is ok.

I have tried almonds before and it slightly thickens and obviously it becomes very almondy. I don't want to add much tomato puree or other spices as it will detrimentally affect the taste. From looking at some YT videos I can see mashed potato being used, but I have reservations to be honest.

I was thinking about cornflour, I certainly use it for fondue already.

I almost always put lentils in curries. If you use tinned / carton they don't even need to be cooled for very long.
Or tomatoes and tomato puree and cook it down as much as needed if I don't want lentils.
Cornflour or gram flour also work.
I have a mind that instant gravy granules would work well in the right curry, but never tried them in a curry.
Edit: when you say mashed potato, I'm assuming instant mash flakes. Please don't tell me even if this is not the case.

I created a biryani last night. It is closely based on a Madhur Jaffrey recipe, but with much less tomato. Once the curry and rice were cooked I added a bit of water and put then in the oven for 40 minutes. This dries it out so I ended up with a fairly dry chicken biryani.
I then made a potato +onion garlic + spices sauce for it.
I don't do it very often, but it is worth it if you fancy a biryani style curry.
There was enough to have it for lunch today as well. It was both cold and hot.
Four stars recommended.

Please don't tell me even if this is not the case. If you want a traditional British style curry (like schools used to make) I suspect gravy thickener replaces most of the spice. I think the aim was to be a little bit exotic but not so challenging 5-11 year olds would reject it. Maybe I am wrong and my primary school used to serve Vindaloo style curries.

I cooked a cross between tarka daal and sag paneer yesterday. It was delicious, though not hot enough because the Other Humans, until chili pickle was added.
I have a portion left for tomorrow.
Also cooked a dismembered part of a dead bird and put half a jar of something called Butter Chicken curry sauce on it for the smallest Other Human.
Edit: I also confess I did the rest of the butter chicken sauce with vegan "chicken" so I could try it. Rather bland.
Edit 2: and it reminds me that yoghurt can also be used to thicken curries, but it's surprisingly dangerous. Getting one small spoonful of stuff with yoghurt to taste like it's the correct heat will almost certainly mean the fifth forkful and beyond are mightily powerful combatants.

If you're interested in WWII history Jonathan Dimbleby's Destiny in the Desert. It does an excellent job of correcting the rose-tinted glasses, self-congratulatory views of Churchill and Montgomery. And it moves like an action thriller...

It depends what sort of book you want.
I recently read
The Brothers York By Thomas Penn. If you are k with a bit of English history that ore or less ignores Scotland it is really good.
The Russian Revolution Anthony Beevor. - It's ok, but I didn't think it was his best by any means The Tyrannosaur Chronicles. It's ok, but sciencey It wasn't the Sarah Connor Chronicles for dinosaurs, which was a bit disappointing.
The Oxford Illustrated History of the book
The Empire Stops Here Philip Parker. It's about the edges of the Roman Empire. I enjoyed it a lot.
I am currently reading Eversion by Alastair Reynolds. I might finish it tonight.
Also some books with maps. But they were parts of series. I like John Gwynne and Anthony Ryan, and Joe Abercrombie obvs.. It does depend on your tolerance for that sort of thing. Also Miles Cameron. I've read two and bought 3 more. They are too long, but enjoyable.
I've also been reading Foundation books by Isaac Asimov. I had not read them before. They are mostly light reading and a bit dated, but I have enjoyed them so far.
