morning all,
My Elden Ring progress and Arnie news was put into its place yesterday when PM received a message from a long time friend of hers.
PM and her became friends when they started out teaching together 20 or so years ago. Teaching is a weird environment and new teachers can form friendships which become very tight. They have been friends ever since, even though her mate moved away. The sort of friendship which doesn't need a lot of curating.
Anyway, the message was that her friend has cancer and it's now extra time. It was initially missed and spread. She's 47.
Her mate is a Phoebe-from-Friends persona. Eccentric, bizarre - her message was upbeat and reminiscent of the last scene in Life of Brian. Accepting of the situation to the point of parody.
In other news, Elden Ring is unforgiving.

Friend of a friend has covid (boo), which means I now have a ticket to go see the Pixies Tonight (yay) , early evening and outdoors in Manchester (Castlefield Arena) . Ridiculously excited!
As far as I'm aware it's not been cancelled, and Kula Shaker are not in town. Off to practice putting eyeliner on

There are some really good bands from Seattle - Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney. I think there's one called Nirvana that would so ok if they changed their singer..
They are really building on the Sonic Youth/ Pixies sound
