Quite a few people are genuinely upset about the death of the Queen, whatever your feelings about the Monarchy etc. I think one should respect/acknowledge/understand that. I respect and acknowledge that. Can't say I really understand. But the interminable fucking media coverage (esp the BBC) is way over the top. Give us republicans a break ffs.

I did like the official announcement stating that she had 'passed away'. Some people would take umbrage at the use of that phrase, not me.

I don't think arresting people for very minor shows of public dissent is a good look at all. It's what Putin did in February. I have less sympathy with the guy who barracked Andrew. That was unnecessarily rude. He has just lost his mother. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/sep/12/anti-monarchy-protester-charged-with-a-breach-of-the-peace-edinburgh-queen-death-king
In London, a barrister and climate activist who had held up a blank piece of paper in Parliament Square said he had been threatened with arrest by a police officer under the Public Order Act.
I think that is bizarre and deeply worrying about what the police think their role is.

A few more days and, as you know, there are other things to watch like BBC2 and 4 and maybe all the other stuff that is available* The BBC can't not do what their doing, especially with this Government. As to being a Republic, Hello President Bo Jo. *if you're subscribed.

The best thing about this whole charade is that, for the first and only time in my lifetime, my birthday falls on a bank holiday weekend.

I don't have any objections to people mourning. That is entirely up to them. I do object to them stopping me doing things I want to (normal things. I am not a protester).
Would me going to the football on Saturday really have hurt the feelings of a single monarchist?

I tried to watch Sky Sports News That was off as well. Not everyone wants to be drowned in tributes to the queen. I'm ok with BBC1 on Thursday going to deathwatch. But turning other channels off was over the top.

I would give him a serious booing. I was a republican well before he came out as a dvb.
If the royals are that popular surely one if them could win the presidency?

I haven't watched a single bit of the rolling (escargot) coverage. And on balance, I think I'd keep the monarchy if it was up to me (Pitchforks ready! Kill Tuffers!). But I will (probably) tune in for (some of) the funeral I think.
OTTM, I'm playing a game I got from steams discount offerings. It's called 'Inside', cracking little side scrolling puzzle/platform game. £1.49. Good fun so far. 4 Royal Standards.
It's a bit like Deadlight directors cut so far. Although that we take some beating. Would recommend for a squid 49.
