Running on Queen's funes today. At first I thought that the service at Westminster Abbey was really snappy and that I could get on with the rest of my day. I had no idea that the plan was to drag it out as long as possible by making everyone walk. Slow-ow-ow-ow-ly. All the horse-drawn carriages due for an M.O.T. or what?
But I did enjoy the Archbishop of Canterbury's mic drop moment "Those who serve will be loved and remembered when those who cling to power & privileges are long forgotten". Clearly Her Maj told him to stick the boot into Boris one last time. Liz "That. Is. A. Disgrace" Truss also delivered the world's flattest Bible reading. Impressive.
I also appreciated how the whole ceremony was bagpipe positive because my Pref. Mam. was a piper. I was just surprised that at one point they played the Skye Boat Song. Historically that seems a bit confusing. At least they didn't follow it up with Will Ye No Come Back Again.
4 stars.

Can we forget about the Queen's sad demise now? Surely 10 fucking days is enough?

I do stuff listening to audiobooks; it helps to divert my mind from the nonsense that goes on in my body. The last two I have finished were: Christian Cameron's The Ill-Made Knight (Book 1 of the Chivalry series. 21h of delight) - an aging knight recounts his career and life... William Gold. A cook's boy - the lowest of the low - who had once been branded as a thief. William dreams of being a knight, but in this savage new world of intrigue, betrayal and greed, first he must learn to survive. The narrator: Saul Reichlin is excellent. Marko Kloos's Centers of Gravity, Book 8 in his Frontlines series. It's good (very reminiscent of Scalzi's stuff, but unrelenting military grim). The FPV guy is very annoying at times, but the action and the universe and the enemy imagined is coherent and interesting - think Starship Troopers with less rah-rah stuff Just started Richard Morgan's Altered Carbon, which I (and a lot of you) have already read in print... Todd McLaren seems a good narrator so far. The Netflix show for altered carbon seemed better than some bits of the books, although I read them a while back. Also the Witcher tv show seems well done so far, I missed all the tits and dragons as didn’t have sky/kodi working when it was on, is the new one any good? I don't have Netflix either, so I can't help you - I do know that the GLP Movie spliced together from the game is excellent; 4 very long parts of which this is the first. When an old friend came to stay for a week, I played this and Blood and Wine whilst I was subjected to stuff. She doesn't like video games much, but, as she said to me, they're better than a lot of movies. Links to the four other sections are in the description.

I'm OK with Shenguin's score, because, as the great raconteur Gollum succinctly put it. My posts get likes. That's enough for me.

I've got 2x250hr playthroughs of W3 in the tank, the only reason I've not started another one yet is because I'm waiting for the next gen graphical/gameplay update to come out (this year I hope??). .. Have tried the TV series but it seems a touch sanitised cf. the game, certainly Henry C seems a bit too handsome for the role. I'll definitely try again though. To be fair I've had a crack at the books as well and they're not for me, not sure if it's just the translation, but I think I'm too hypnotised by CDPR's excellent implementation of the whole witcher mythos. The bloody baron arc is maybe the best junction of game/story I've ever enjoyed. The next game can't come soon enough

I'd decided against linking to Another One Bites The Dust a few days ago as I thought it unnecessary and possibly insensitive.
This illness has obviously changed me.

I am going to duff Laddy up.
*Tids pops out for quick ciggy whilst watching 'Lawrence of Arabia'*
Ah, I can't be bothered to type all this.
Upshot is that Laddy has been punching his internal walls and blaming it on some phantom front door puncher.
Tids: 'Why are your knuckles red?'
A stream of Laddy bullshit ensues.

I wish I hadn't posted that. I was going to do a lazybones, but Chumbles saw it. So it stands as a matter of record.
