Chatterbox Tuesday

I've been shortsighted and had to wear specs since I was 7. 

Just literally the last couple of months, I've been unable to easily resolve small text, eg the small print on a toothpaste tube, or smaller text in a browser window on my phone.  Taking my (short sight) glasses off helps but I still can't focus on fine details like I used to, and it's come on pretty quick. 

2 pairs of glasses would work, but how often do you pick up your phone in a day, or have to read text smaller than, say 10pt?  It's more than you think.  And the arseache of juggling 2 pairs of specs doesn't seem worth it. I could increase the text size on my phone, but that only solves half the problem, and makes using a phone less enjoyable.  Until you can't do it, I suppose you never notice how often you look at something far away, and then something close up, but it's pretty fucking often

I also ordered a new pair of single vision short sight lenses, which I expect I'll use 90% of the time.  The varifocals, I imagine I'll use (if I can get used to the bastards) round the house, so that I can watch the telly and read the newspaper / my phone without having to scramble for another pair of specs.  I remember my Grandad and his constant fight to find the right glasses for the occasion - can't be arsed with that (he had his 'lookers' and his 'see-ers', and as previously mentioned, never the right pair for the occasion)
