Army Navy went well on Saturday. By that I mean I didn't get alcohol poisoning and the army won.
A few admin bits and bobs were done on Sunday, repairs to garage, cutting the green etc. Zero fun.
I also spunked the best part of 3000 DivTech optimising a 6 piece Striker build and I still didn't finish it. An expensive business. Still, the DPS is ridiculous. Yay?
Ooh, I played a game. God of War, it looks beautiful, and Kratos is quite the muscle bound rage machine, much like I imagine Wee to be. Battling draugr is a lot more interesting and dynamic than in Skyrim, you can physically rip them in half! Kratos is also voiced by Teal’c.
And what a cracking morning it is. Long weekend went as follows:
Gardening: climbing plants planted under the dead hedge, but I may have poured in too much fish bone powder around one of them so it may be long for this world.
DIY: Starting removing the silicon around the bath on Saturday evening and finished replacing it at lunch yesterday. As I'm observing the recommended 24 hour setting time, there's a good chance I stink. I thought it would be a fairly quick job as well...
Uni: Not nearly enough done but enough time to pull it back before the 31st. I think.
Films: I saw the Avengers at the Dominion in Edinburgh, a film about a kebab sign. The cinema had fancy leather recliners and decent drink. I will return.
That's pretty much it and yet I'm knackered going back to work. Sake.
Bought a new telly at the weekend, I'm not enjoying God of War in beautiful 4K goodness.
Modern tellies are amazing. A few months back I went from a 32 inch barely HD tv to 48 inch 4k with HDR and it makes even average TV shows worth watching.
I thought I’d gotten away with the new 49” telly, it arrived on Saturday and right up until Monday night When Sally turned round and said we now need to move the living room around as the telly was too big in the corner where it is now!
We have a knock through living room, the front half being the ‘posh’ bit for when we have visitors. It’s a bigger space than the rear room, but I’ll need to do some major work - new fireplace, move the book shelves, and rewire all the network stuff for the TV.
Did the usual sunny Bank Holiday routine. Light Spring clean, BBQ, gardening and a nice long bike ride. By yesterday morning I was burnt to a crisp. 4*'s.
Still managed to squeeze in some TV and gaming though.
TV wise got caught up with the usual's and binged Cobra Kai, which was surprisingly enjoyable, and even more surprisingly expensive to watch (fuck you Youtube).
Hot, wasn’t it? My back garden is 50% traditional early 21st century urban decay, 50% Desolation of Smaug. I think the weed killer I used actually caught fire at one point, when I was sheltering from the incendiary sun.
Games! Fortnite. A whisker away from a win, but the tower I was squatting in collapsed under sustained gunfire. It’s alright.
Greasy Grove is the pits. Far too much hostility. You just don’t need that.

What makes Fortnite magical is the moments of connecting with another player and forming a brief bond which supersedes the core mechanic of simply killing for the sake of it. I had a player dressed as a pink bear reach out to me in a barn because he/she was unarmed and wanted me to leave him/her to be. I walked up right up and blasted them in the face with a shotgun at point blank range.
Your daily Skyrim report: There I was, on my way to Winterhold, minding my own business, when I came across Fort Kastav. Lydia and I approached it carefully as we had no intention to engage with the occupants. And then this happened:
I let the horse be and tried sneaking past the fort, then was attacked by a pair of mages. I killed one of them and turned around to deal with the other one.
Only to find that Lydia had managed to get herself killed, the silly goose.
That certainly put a dampener on things. Needless to say, I reverted to my last save. See, this is why I don't like taking anyone with me. In hindsight I should have just told her to wait somewhere and faced the situation alone, but I suppose I'm still too much influenced by Breath of the Wild and therefore started looking for an alternative route. Just let me climb that stupid mountain already! Eventually I ended up in Windhelm, so that's okay as well.
I did not utilise the sun and heat in any way shape or form over the weekend.
No, wait, I went to London on Saturday and photographed didn't I? So that.
We had a few hours before the workshop, so went around the Tate Modern, and then snuck into a Premier Inn to snap their spiral staircase.
After a quick bowl of chips, it was workshop time, with a chap called Jason Lanier.
He does a lot of model shots with lighting, reflectors etc. Went on a photowalk to Brick Lane as a group of around thirty photographers, and he showed us the tricks of the trade. And we had three models to shoot in the process.
A very good workshop indeed, and came away with ~400 shots. And to top it off, we went for a curry afterwards. Didn't get back home til 00:30.

Heartwarming.
Pink bear costume? They've only got themselves to blame.

Lydia can usually only get killed if it’s your own fault, when she’s low on health she’ll take a knee and the various bad guys will attack you instead.

You shot the models? Did he teach you how to dismember the bodies and remove the bloodstains too?

Mammoths falling from the sky always freaked me out.
