I use MP3 converter to put everything in to FLAC if it isn't already so that I don't have lots of odd formats. Careful saying that. Converting lossy formats into FLAC is the dance of the devil. If an audio file sees that they'll have an aneurysm.

Hmm. How is your streamer seeing the Nas? Just a FileShare or a media server on the Nas? whatalarkSadly this is far to technical for me to understand. I've come to the conclusion there is a fault with the amp/streamer. It used to be fine working with a Nas and playing flac. It's getting on in years and runs my TV and PS4 etc ok but I think it's due for a change. I can put it to use somewhere else. Edit. As a media server I think.

I've got a Marantz 7004 which is an older and cheaper version.
Would I recommend it? Well the remote control needed replacing after 10 years which is disappointing. Apart from that it is excellent and does not skip playing FLAC files from a NAS.
Plus it is Marantz so it in the great war of wanker v audiophile wanker I am firmly on the right side.
£649 is a good price as well.

If it's playing the same files fine from the usb then it's probably a connectivity issue.
I'm about to order curry & kebabs.

I'm a FLAC guy. You might not be able to hear the difference, but I will pretend to until the day I die.

I'm thinking of "swapping out" (hi Amipal) my usual shawarma and "swapping in" either the full mixed grill (fattus bappus) or the lamb Tikka.

Chicken shashlik, chicken tikka chasni, rice, naan, mixed pakora. Child has a supermarket korma and is free to try any of the other stuff.
I've ordered. The PM said she'd "definitely be back for 5".
She isn't. The food is coming any time from 5.15. FFS.

I do like my Sonos speaker, I must admit. It's probably the best thing in my life. Yeah me too. I'm hoping for a Sonos soundbar at some point. So it's not a pair of Kef LS50s but that's never going to happen anyway. What are the advantages of a soundbar? Is that for your telly? I've just got a Sonos One. It sounds great but am tempted to get another one anyway, to achieve full stereophonic sound.

Yeah it's for the TV mainly. You can cast music to it the same as the speakers.
I have also thought about buying another sonos 1. I'm hoping folk sell them off cheap on eBay once the new ones are out.

I've just got a Sonos One. It sounds great but am tempted to get another one anyway, to achieve full stereophonic sound. It makes more noise than TV speakers. Especially with a subwoofer attached. My parents have an LG TV which is ok, but the sound is thin and underpowered. They usually have subtitles on. If you turn the sound right up it becomes harsh very quickly A soundbar or other speakers make a big difference. The centre speaker bit means you can hear speech without subtitles. And listen to something at a reasonable volume without the sound becoming strained. The Sonos speaker(s) are enough to get decent sound. Assuming you are watching/listening to something ok.

Have a very old Dell latitude that runs Linux Ubuntu but had to change to Ubuntu Mate but it was still slow. Then the dvd drive died. Found a note book size laptop with 11" screen made especially for Linux by Starlabs. Hence I'm now back to ripping CDs. Sits comfortably on the arm of the chair. Torrhunt found me all six series of Expanse but everything is Mp4 which my not so smart TV doesn't seem to recognise. So now I'm watching it on an 11" screen. Might get a portable monitor for watching such things. One thing always seems to lead to another. But at least the keyboard works. I’d have though that someone who uses Linux as their main operating system would be able to convert MP4s into something usable in mencoder…

You know those IKEA blinds, the ones that you pull down and they're supposed to lock where you want?
I want to find the Swedish arsehole that invented them. Then have a set where if he gets them to within 2cm of a mark on the wall he doesn't get cut.
Smorgasbord eating motherfucker. I'm full of kebab and curry. Was very good - though the PMs chasni was too sweet.

I just use it as an operating system instead of Windows. Have used it for years because I got fed up with having to buy software for everything you wanted to do. With Linux 90% of everything you can get for free and as far as I'm aware still very few viruses. I haven't used a virus checker for years.

Was very good - though the PMs chasni was too sweet. The amount of money (and time) I've wasted over the years on blinds (of all types) from Ikea/Dunelm etc is ridiculous. Especially the 'cut to any size' types. No longer. The last few we've had I went to a professional. They come round, measure up, then come back at a later date and fit them. Perfectly. And they work. And don't break/fall down after 6 months. Costs more initially obvs, but I'm sure it's worth it in the long run.

Best ones imo are Fissler. Indestructible beautiful bastards. Ours are 18 years old (wedding gift) and look nearly new.
