I'm so glad that you've never learned to use the {insert image} function... that is horrible. Anyway, Shiv has an incredibly long story, "Throwback to Shiv’s BIL, lorry driver and mr Manu" - here's his first post:
Tech question....if I rip a cd in flac and put on Synology DS 220j it plays fine on Bluetooth speaker. Put on memory stick and play on streamer (Cambridge audio minx xi) via usb it plays fine. Play direct to streamer and it stutters. Usb shows as a flac file but streamer shows as pcm file. If I rip as wav file it still shows as pcm on streamer but plays fine. Can't find any info on why this is. Would rather use flac than wav.
PCM is just digital to Analog so you would see that I believe on both. What's doing the decompression of the flac when streaming? The NAS or the streamer?
Does the Synology app play it ok ? I don't own a Synology but I believe sheep2 & Rolling do. They may be more help.
Put it all in the bin and have a nice gramaphone disc instead.
Apparently I've needed a hearing aid longer than I realised.

I think you need some different technology.
You could try a Cambridge 640 v2? It plays miniature digital audio discs which rotate faster than conventional LPs, or seven inch singles, but are smaller than both. You have a full hour of digitally encoded music - picked up, precisely as recorded, by a miniature solid state LASER, housed within the unit. Fantastic piece of kit.

Is it the same rip?
My first plan would be to turn everything off and back on again. Make sure all the connections are right. Is it wired? Wireless tends to drop out a bit.
Also is it a 16/44.1 rip? Higher quality rips of CD files are useless and bigger files tend to stutter more. My streamer gets annoyed if there are other things on the network. It's ok with games, but anything going to or from the pc makes it sulk.

I have a new TV soundbar arriving today, still considering the pros and cons of various monitors.
Also won consecutive Fortnite games yesterday, my Victory Crowns dance was reset with the new season, but I can now flex away in the lobby with my grand total of 2.

Have played on the app on phone and plays ok. So it's the streamer that's having problems me thinks.

I've tried cable instead of wireless. It shows on streamer as 16/44. It plays ok via the usb but not from the Nas. But works ok from Nas to phone app.
I've never got my NAS and streamer to admit it has a second drive fully attached with stuff on it. I have to use Twonky for the second drive, which works fine. The streamer sees everything that is on Twonky.
Also my one streamer claims only to play files up to 24/96. Though in practice it does play 24/192 files, but reserves the right to sulk at them and stutter if it wants to. The other streamer plays everything fine and has pictures. However it won't go up from the top to the bottom of a list, which is mildly annoying. Down all the way through the list is fine, but wrapping, no.

It's always good to know that someone has troubles worse than your own. I'm going to have to use Wav. It's better than buying a new streamer. Have tried a factory reset but has made no difference.

Yeah I have the same NAS, which I use with a Sonos speaker. I'm afraid I can't help though as I have no idea how it all works, and if anything ever goes wrong I'll be screwed. It took me 2 hours the other day to work out how to change the password.
