I don't know what any of these bands sound like. The 90s must have past me by without me noticing it.

I'd have been living in the 17th century fighting as a musketeer in The Sealed Knot at this time.

I lived in Bristol for 4 years in the early to mid 1990s. Trip hop was pretty much compulsory. I have an extensive collection of Portishead, Massive Attack and Tricky cds. I don't listen to them that oftensny more, but they are all ace. Also some Neneh Cherry. She's mot from Bristol and technically wasn't trip hop, but she basically created it. She worked extensively with Massive Atack from the Wild Bunch days and paid for their first album.

Tricky's debut Maxinquaye was rereleased yesterday with lots of the mixes. I have bought a download, but i haven't listened to it yet. Top story.

My slight cough seems to have turned into a slight cold. Annoying. My nose is mostly blocked and i didn't sleep well.
I have also played more Dark Souls. Now in NG++. I have done in the gargoyles, the red dragon and the midnight butterfly. I've also killed Ingward to get access to the Four Kings early.

I own 'Dummy' by Portishead on CD, and also 'Atmosphere' by Russ Abbott on 7 inch. All bases covered.

So have I. Boiler is 18 years old. Still working but having it replaced next Wednesday before problems start to appear.

I keep playing Starfield and it keeps showing it's a 7/10 game, mediocrity incarnate.
The writing is Bethesda's finest*.

The correct number of Portishead albums to own is zero.
Good to see the Welsh thrashed at rugby, I'm sure they'll be cheering for the English now.

So have I. Boiler is 18 years old. Still working but having it replaced next Wednesday before problems start to appear. We had our boiler serviced last week. The heating engineer had a brief chat with me at the end to say that it might be worth putting money aside for 18 month’s time to replace the boiler. Current one is working fine, and still in warranty… but there’s government legislation to stop building boilers in two years time. Apparently. I’ve read up on this, and there are no plans to do that. Zero. Only new builds will not have gas or oil boilers from 2025… I know he’s trying to protect his business, but that was blatant misinformation for the customer. Either way, once this boiler starts acting up, it’ll be heat-pump time.

The 1990s albums i own are trendier than the ones you own.
That's not because my music tastes are cooler, but because i bought more CDs. And am supressing the non-trendy ones.

Either way, once this boiler starts acting up, it’ll be heat-pump time. This is from British Gas: "What if your boiler is getting on a bit and you’d be thinking of replacing it in the next couple of years? Is there much point in buying a new gas boiler just a year or two before the ban comes in? Rest assured that even if you were to buy a new, super-efficient boiler today, it would probably use natural gas for all its working lifetime. In fact, it’s very likely to keep you warm and toasty for years to come." Implying that one can't replace an existing with a gas boiler?

I had a couple of Prodigy singles. I still have Charly - the seven inch single. I got Everybody in the Place on CD after that, but after a while it began to depress me because I equated it with playing ‘Rastan’ on the Spectrum, sitting in my room and not having a girlfriend, while having excessively fluorescent clothes and a quiff.
I can remember people being down on the Prodigy because they were electronic so not ‘proper’ music. Then they seemed to have an image makeover with that Keith fellow put up front and a dark, band-like aesthetic introduced. And people all of a sudden seemed to think they were ok.
I don’t know what point I’m trying to make. I didn’t like all that Keith from the Prodigy (RIP) ‘in your face’ business. I instinctively wanted to put my hands up, when I saw him on TV or a poster. Or pull an imaginery blind down to protect myself. It was all a bit much.

My favourite 1990s Bristol band was Flying Saucer Attack. When I was 17 I would have happily let you know that, while suppressing the fact that I also had Adamski’s ‘The Space Jungle’ under my bed …

I remember being at an early Shaman gig after they had gone dance. They were playing and triggering a sequencer/samples.
The fucking idiots in the crowd were giving them grief for "having a backing track" - I was absolutely mortified that the gig going crowd in my home town were so fucking stupid and knew fuck all about music technology.
Which all ties in nicely with the GLOK gig last night. The pm when I was talking today about what he was doing went on the bam-up "Sounds like what Ed Sheeran does...".
