Dragons Dogma III don’t often play many of the the main quests in games like this. I don’t know why but exploring beyond the quests hasn’t drawn me in. I just seem to run about overencumbered with lots of light stuff I’ve picked up, and having to fight goblins. Having said that - being outside the city is ok. I feel like in the city I’m being asked to do stuff about something I’m not engaged with. If there’s a false Arisen I don’t really mind. Let him stay on the throne. Also - I think I know who he is and he seems ok to me. The conversation with the main guy getting me to do this stuff is really limited though. For all the talk of bring able to complete quests in different ways … it’s hard to see where the scope for doing this is. I’ve been asked to ‘get close to the Sovren’ at a masqued ball. As far as I can tell he wasn’t there, but I met him in his room a few days before (I think). And he’s giving me this Prince and the Pauper schtick in the main square. There’s just no way of doing anything with it.
I could be wrong. But in any case it doesn’t feel much deeper or interactive than games made ten years ago. It could just be the section I’m in. And maybe I’m expecting too much.

The story is rubbish, if you want good story and characters play BG3. It's an ARPG where you go around and hit things in interesting ways. That's it really.

I think the problem is that there's a section of the main quest line, where it asks you to do several hours of non-ARPG things back to back, with no hitting involved, and mostly really really bad stealth sneaking around the palace or the jail. And repeatedly going to talk to the guy in the inn every time you do something, which drags the whole thing out even further.

I think you have to call them 'differently eyed persons' these days.

I agree, a bunch of fetch quests but shouldn't really take that much time, you're told to wear something nice* and given a mask for the masquerade, so can you just walk anywhere, there's no stealth mechanics. *courtly top and trousers.

Having said that, I'm enjoying DD2 because it's a better version of DD1, I don't know whether I'd like it as much if I hadn't played the first one, it doesn't hold a candle to BG3 or Elden Ring.

It has dragons and dogmas. What else do you people want?

The game is rubbish, if you want good a game and warfare, play BF2042. It's an FPS where you go around and hit things in interesting ways. That's it really. Couldn't agree more. Going to have a round now.

It’s the masquerade ball that’s deflated my enthusiasm. Going to the ball, talking to people, interacting, but with nothing happening.

I can see several mistakes, also you'd want to play DS3 before ER?

And I do want to finish DS2.

You guys need to chuck Dragons Doglog in the bin and have a nice game of Lice of Pee instead.
Disclaimer - I'm only at the start, in Krat Central Station.

Long day. Feels like I’m missing an hours kip somewhere. Roast lamb leg for 7 hungry folk Roast taters Yorkie puddings Carrots Honey glazed parsnips Cabbage Lashings of onion gravy.
Drunkbuddy called in. Not seen him for a couple of weeks. He is now Soberbuddy, after a bollocking from his GP about his abused liver. Odd thing in that he is majorly magnesium deficient now, so is on some supplements, the side effect of which are constant thirst, and an urgent desire to piss every 10 minutes. Recon he’s used my bathroom more today that when he was on the sauce. 2 weeks with no booze and he’s looking a lot better, which is a sobering thought. Maybe I am now drunkbuddy???
