I played Dragons Dogma II yesterday / this morning, until 4.45am. I went to a village for a quest, I completed the quest but then the road out of the village disappeared. The pawn said something to this effect, so I wondered if there was more quest to do. I interacted for a bit, then used a ‘ferrystone’ to warp back to the city. I turns out I’d completed the quest after all …
I sacked off the main quests and went back into the countryside. The game is better there. Kind of compelling. Much more compelling somehow. Anyway … I later read on the internet that the completion of one of the main quests I couldn’t do required the discovery of a hidden door. The quest was not to find a hidden door. The quest was explicitly to do something else, but you can / could only complete it by finding a hidden door that isn’t / wasn’t mentioned at all.
I would return the game on this basis if I could. I want my money back.

I always thought £60 was too much for a game, then I spent £60 on a game that’s substandard.
What was I thinking?
The YouTube reviews said it was good. Keza MacDonald said it was good. The Internet says the game has ‘polarised’ gamers. But actually I feel polarised, within myself. I hate it but … I stayed up until 4.45am playing it.

I think there’s a market for game review websites where the reviewers pay for the games they review. Or they should have the reviews broken down into different sections: Graphics, Addictiveness, Value for Money.
