Good morning!
I changed broadband provider yesterday and the new one appears to be crap! Signal too weak to connect to the PS5 or the telly, apparently, even though they are about 6 feet from the router. Great stuff. I was getting massively ripped off by BT but at least they were ripping me off for something that actually worked.
Telly and games, no (see above).

Vodafone - a friend on the same street has them and said the service was fine. Ran the Which speed tester on my phone, sitting further from the router than the PS5 is, and got 35 Mbps, which doesn't sound too bad, so not sure why it won't connect...
Will the old router work with the new provider? I think BT might be asking for their gear back.
The new router looks like a Sonos speaker, rather than the old one which was a flat rectangle.

Did you just rename the new WiFi to the old name and change the password?
Or have you added everything to the new ssid/password?
Have you got the Vodafone broadband app installed?

Rolling, check if the ps5 is using auto network. If so, Force the PS5 to use 5Ghz WiFi band
On PS5:
Under Settings > Network
Under Network
Go to Settings > Set Up Internet Connection
With your home WiFi network highlighted, Press Options button (DS5 Controller) Select Wi-Fi Frequency Bands, change this from Automatic to 5Ghz
Reboot and see if any better

Have you got the Vodafone broadband app installed? Hmmm. I am not sure the difference between those things is - I told the devices to search for the new network name and gave them the password. Worked fine on laptop and phone (if anything they seem slightly faster than before) but PS5 etc not playing ball.
Actually not been able to get into the app yet - they told us that might take a day or two to sync up with our account. Perhaps once we get into that we'll be able to add devices from there...?

I always just change the new router details to the old WiFi so I I only have to change one thing instead of all the devices.
Try forcing the ps5 to use 5Ghz band.

Few things give me greater pleasure in life than going on to the Vodafone app to boost the device I'm using, at the expense of whatever a child who isn't mine is doing. Nobody else in the house knows about the existence of the app. I found the WiFi strength on the router oddly weak compared to the previous BT router. |

No luck with the 5GHz thing - same error message.
Hopefully getting the app working will help resolve things.

If the ps5 doesn't want 5 you shouldn't force it, when our great ai chat bots take over you will not want to be the subject of all the deep fakes.
Plug them in using a cable?

Ethernet cables with plug extenders might be the only solution. The living room will look like the inside of one of those spaceships off the Matrix.
Also starting to wonder if the BT deal we had was actually a higher grade. But surely 35Mbps should be enough to stream a bit of telly and play the odd game of Apex Legends for every waking hour of the day?

I have my PS5 wired to the internet.
It works pretty well unless you are chatting over PS5 late at night when it does the occasional drop out,
All the NAS stuff is wired in as well. Though this does require ethernet plugs to avoid a cable snaking all through the flat.
I actually have a 15m CAT5 cable from the old flat.
