Rotary wankers.
Morning all. Crappy night's sleep - just a couldn't get comfortable. And so I'm feeling a tad grumpy today.
But... it's the boy's first day (well, welcome session) at nursery!

I recommend some form of bubble system, an enclosed space for the child so the germs can’t get out. Or set up a tent outside and tell him that’s where he lives now |

Morning!
Civ VI! Germany and Rome both declared war on me. Idiots. This morning was spent laughing at Rome attempting to kill an aircraft carrier with archers whilst I casually marched my tanks into Germany's last three cities. Looks like it's going to be a domination victory after all.
In other gaming news, I've bought NMS for the second time, this time on PS4, due to my PC being on it's last legs. The new PC has always been planned for Jan '19, just expected my current one to last until then. This does not bode well for the WoW expac in two weeks time. Sad times.

We played Mountains of Madness, a kind of HP Lovecraft thing where you ascend a mountain gathering clues and going insane. As you get higher on the mountain you get more and more madness cards which you have to enact when you decide between you cards to use to beat the encounters. Initially I had to stay standing up, then I had to sit on the floor and then finally I couldn't open my eyes when playing cards, which meant I had to memorise them beforehand and shout out what I had. It was funny, but it wasnt a great game as such. We won in the end.
Then we played Glass Road which is a resource gathering type thing. Great game, really enjoyed it. The way the turn sequence works and the number of choices you have to make is right up my alley, but then its by Uwe Rosenberg and I love every game of his that I've played. I won that one, because I am a terrible little shit that is able to minimax points scoring on these types of games. Next week we're hopefully playing A Feast for Odin (AKA Viking Bingo).

Hello. I’ve got a new battery in my phone for free, which is very nice of those Cupertino techno-fascists, and fifty quid cash back on my credit card, which I intend to spend entirely on mid range new-world hooch.
I’ve also started playing Elite again. I can stop anytime I like.

I'm going to try and pick up some cheap second hand games today, maybe Rocket League and Rainbow Six. Then I will install along with NMS tonight to set me up for the weekend. I'll park Fortnite and PUBG for a while.

I bought and played a 'boardgame' called Codenames last night. It was excellent. I'm starting to really enjoy boardgames again, which I am certain is just part of my mid-life crisis, but I am not sure I want to go full Melvazord and join a cult. Actually, I probably do, but how do you make contact with such people when all your normal acquaintances are urban sophisticates? Is there a secret signal of some sort?

The secret signal is to ask someone if they fancy a game of Monopoly. If they give you a withering look of disgust, they play proper boardgames. Feel free to engage them in talk of hex and counter games, worker placement and area control.
