Would you like to swap your job for working in one of those or do you think their IT system is probably a disaster? It probably would be once I joined their ranks... As much as I believe in equality, access to Information for all, etc. I really hope they don't allow the great unwashed in most of those.

I came here specifically to complain that the library pictures don't include the 1960s Birmingham Library. But you've probably all already looked at them and realised that.

Rooms are pretty great but why waste all that space on books? Could fit most of them on my Kindle.
Turn them into a Starbucks I say.

There is no 1960's Birmingham library, never was one. Do you mean the 1862 (rebuilt 1882) one? or the 1974 upside down Ziggurat that was Birmingham Central Library. Whatevs. They have both been destroyed anyway.

I meant the 1974 one, as you well fucking knew. I know it's gone, I don't think that means all photographs of it have also been destroyed.
I'm still angry they destroyed it. Fucking pleb philistines.

I was lying about the urban sophisticates. I live in Fife after all. Those library photos are incredible, crankcaller. Will the staff help you with your council tax paperwork though?

I'm not touching Twitter with a ten-foot pole.* This antisemitism in the Labour party stuff is downright bizarre. How hard can it be to avoid antisemitism? *I didn't know they had such tall blokes in Krakow

How hard can it be to avoid antisemitism? *I didn't know they had such tall blokes in Krakow I will post my half of the conversation with commentary so of course it will be right. Ok, I'm a socialist, started off as a Liberal who I voted for in 1979, (before the Social Democrats), and became more left wing as I got older, yes that is the wrong way around. The only time I voted for a party that won was My Little Toni in 1997(?), that was fun I believe that Brexit is a disaster for our country but don't think it will make much different to my life So bare that in mind when I post the twitter conversation. Thank you

Isn't one of the problems that some Jews want to try to word anti-Semitism definitions in such a way that they seem to include legitimate criticisms of Israel? And also that people who type things like the above sentence sometimes use criticism of Israel as a cover for anti-Semitism? And that the Labour party has too many partisan supporters of Palestine who happen to also be ignorant and Muslim,* and nobody wants to look racist by pointing this out? And that the Labour party is the victim of vicious right wing smears.
Basically, isn't the problem that people, by and large, are utter dicks?**
*No, I did not say too many Muslims, nor that all Muslims are ignorant.
**Is Nick Cave a Chatterboxer? I have a suggestion for a song he could sing.

I have a suggestion for a song he could sing. The right wing didn't do this, it was all home brewed. And yes calling out antisemitism, (that is a tricky word to type), is construed as supporting Israel's treatment of Palestine. I don't have a horse in this race so I don't know why I care

I think the decline in standard of political debate, the waves of nasty populist scape-goating, and the general unleashing of nastiness worsens society for us all, and that anti-Semitism in Labour thing is one relatively small part of that.
So I think we all do have a horse in the race; as society becomes smaller and grubbier it has an impact on all of us.

The Twitter spat, please note you only see my side, (unedited), because I was blocked, but it as fair representation as any Chatteboxer would give
Hadley Freeman - Guardian Columinist
"I'll try to explain this in small words for those who are still confused. Corbyn booked a room, on Holocaust Memorial Day, for an event where he knew speakers would be comparing Israel to the Nazis. Those are the facts, no matter how much his defenders weasel around them."
Antigone replied: By pointing out all other stuff about Israel and Palestine and Right wing media manipulation
I said: I see you're using the Trump defence
He said: "Why?"
I said: Chucking everything you can think of to defend a position
He said: Actually I don't know what he said something akin to "what about her emails" but accused HF of being hoodwinked by not sure what and that I obviously wasn't bothered by babies being brutally murdered
I said: Your language is a tad upsetting, but no it doesn't bother me also I doubt Hadley has been "hoodwinked" by anyone also this is typical right wing deflection. Peace
He said:...your're pathetic and a know nothing <edit> He also said "Ha!* I'm left wing" maybe I was too subtle
I said: I'll take pathetic from you, have fun
He said: You idiot, I'm not a Trump supporter so there. (I may have interpreted his point)
I said: I didn't accuse you of being Trump supporter, I said you were using Trump tactics
He said: Something else
I said: You're very demanding
Then he blocked me
I said: Readers he blocked me
* He didn't say "Ha!"

It's weird, isn't it, that people feel free to accuse you of not caring about babies being murdered and then block you because they don't want to hear your civil arguments any longer.
Although I don't like the idea I agree that it's a self-inflicted wound. Everything Shenguin said* is true, yet sadly it doesn't explain Ken "Hitler supported Zionism" Livingstone and Peter "Jewish Trump fanatics are making it up" Willsman.
*on this occasion
