Wasn't it Stephen Fry who made that remark on QI a few years ago? The audience started booing and he had to add that it was supposed to be a joke. The British take these things very seriously. Quite possibly. I didn't see Fry on the train, he must have been there though to have been able to rip off the train jerk's joke. It was originally an Alan Coren line. Fry couldn't come up with anything half as withering.

I am in the top 400,000 on the EPL fantasy football now. *400,000*. Pretty big deal. I am enjoying the football more now I am released from having to care about who wins, as all that matters is whether some Watford midfielder I've never heard of gets booked or not.

Books: I actually finished one for once. Annihilation by Jeff van der Meer. Lovecraftian, pretty disturbing. Good news and bad news - the second book is long and terrible but the third is ok. You'd almost be better off stopping now, maybe just watch the film or something.This. I really liked Annihilation but the second one was painfully dull. Don't think I finished it. All I remember of it is about 600 pages of a bloke sat in an office complaining about his mum

Disappointing, especially as I've already bought the second one. Are his other books outside the trilogy any good? This was the first I'd read. I don't know about his others, the second one has some interesting bits but goes on far too long with very little happening until right at the end. It was a real chore to finish it. If you've already bought it its probably worth blazing through it to get to the third, which is much better. Other chatterboxers felt the same way so its not just me being a mentalist.

Is that the one with a mr snuffulupagus crossed with a hoover thing in the bottom of a well? Useful info if so, as I didn’t really rate the first one. woah spoilers!

I found it ok, but not compelling enough to try the sequels. Apparently they are making it into a movie releasing 2018.

We've got a book with Alan Coren aphorisms lying around somewhere, wonder whether they've included that one or whether it was deemed inappropriate for the kind of book people give as Christmas presents when they did their Christmas shopping on the morning of the 24th in W.H. No PSVR so no skyrimVR, anyone know of any good rpg games out or coming out soon? Playing auto-camels and have been single-handedly hunting all egypts animals and petting all the cats. Nothing seems to fill the Witcher gap even after space trucking a bit. Gameschat, do I know need to talk about bathrooms?

Sorry. BCFC are my favourite West Midlands team, so I share your pain intensely. Oh no wait a minute, it's Coventry.

Depending on what you have already played: Final Fantasy XII Final Fantasy XV Shadow of War Fallout 4 Have been dominating my games time this year.

In addition to that from this year only, also depending on what you have already played: Yakuza 0 Horizon Zero Dawn Persona 5 Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice Nier: Automata and, as bloggiesmalla said, Breath of the Wild. You don't need a Switch for that, it's just as good on a Wii U if you can get your hands on one cheap or borrow it. That would also give you access to Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X, if you haven't played those yet Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the Switch about to come out, not sure what it's like yet

Stxdpr's question made me wonder: do you think that there will be a 'this year's best games countdown' at the other place?
I've got the opposite problem from stxdpr: I've got a backlog as long as my arm, possibly both arms...
Playing Mario right now, earlier did housework whilst listening to a loop of the Snow kingdom music, makes you skip through the house and puts you in the mood for Christmas.
Dinner: Thai fishcakes, stir fry, New Zealand white
