We’ve been having cat issues. George has been losing weight, lethargic and and throwing up. Thought it might be worms but he didn’t improve using the tablets. Took him to the vet on Wednesday- only to get a possibly cancer diagnosis- blood tests and today a biopsy and ultrasound. George came back today and it appears more likely to be Irritable Bowel, but we’re still waiting for the biopsy results for the all clear. Total cost so far £1000. I should have got the insurance. It’s been really upsetting seeing him so poorly, he’s sat on my lap now while we watch Age Of Ultron. That's shit news. Hope it's just IB. Vet bills are fucking ridiculous. Ours was c £500 last year. And probably the same for the other cat the previous year.

@smellavision - what shit. Fingers crossed he will be okay and it's just IBS, although that's bad enough.
£1000 for no treatment, just the biopsy? Seems a bit steep.

Basically that's the American health service without insurance and possibly ours in the future

Basically that's the American health service without insurance and possibly ours in the future That's exactly what I said to my partner after we got the vet bill through. Four and a half grand to pay, including the injection to put the cat to sleep... I felt somewhat aggrieved having to it it.

The main reason my preferred mammal doesn't want a cat is because it will, probably, die before us, my feeling is that you have to accept that while understanding that you will get immense pleasure from their company and give them a wonderful and spoiled life while they're alive. Between me and my mum there have been 5 cats, 4 now dead and only one needed a vet, which then led to me buying insurance for her Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Evening peeps
Dog has been to the big vets for 5th and hopefully her final round of chemo. She is off the steroids now, and starting to moult profusely. Big vets suggested we don't bring dog into reception as they have an outbreak of kennel cough, so had to meet in the car park and then go to an outbuilding for treatment. Turns out the cough my dog had last month was KC contracted at big vets during her previous chemo... local vets charged £420 to treat that. Ker-Ching.
OTTM - tree Is down along with rest of the decs. Games! - still alive in Elite... heading across the Inner Orion Spur, past the Coalsack nebula. Hope to get a couple hours travel in later, and get into some uncharted space where I can get my name on some discoveries. Need to get familiar with the new scanning tools as they've all changed since last time I played.

@smellavision : that's rotten. It is infinitely more difficult to deal with illness in a loved one than it is to deal with it in yourself. I've buried too many pets not to empathise with the feeling of helplessness... One of the things I was spared because so very, very few of my friends knew I was in hospital and fighting to stay alive, was having to repeatedly deal with the look of shock, horror and helplessness in their eyes - I only twice in the nine months I was in had the semi-farcical situation of having to comfort a visitor. (Bear in mind that I was literally a pale shadow of my 16 and a half stone at just over 10 stone). Of far more use were the efforts of GetOver , who put up with my weird, delirious texting at all hours and the support from the 'box that almost certainly helped to keep me alive ... On other matters I love England, being English and all that makes us so. Especially our use of irony... btw I am astonished by how few of you, given an open goal, dribbled... apart from "what a bummer", there was a distinct lack of cheap shots. I'd expected at least a "that's shitty" or "that must be hard"...

What the actual fuck is going on in here? I'm willing to pay any vet to put down all of us, if that helps.

Morning all. I went over a mate's house last night, one with functioning central heating. As a Christmas present to himself, he's got himself a steering wheel and pedals for driving games. Not only that, but the chair and frame to attach them to as well. So I spent a considerable amount of time driving around a variety of tracks in Gran Turismo, and jolly good fun it was. The dirt track was the best - lots of sliding and kicking out the rear end. Then plugged in the PC to try Dirt2 with it, but the damn game wouldn't work properly. And so it came to pass that I, amipal, would drive some of the distance between Dover and Southampton in Euro Truck 2. I bow before you in your earnest brexit job creation scheme

How is this place attracting new members? I mean "Why?" is the real question but for now, "How?". Is there a marketing campaign? I'm only back because of a browser typing error that brought this site up. That and a whiff of nostalgia and a smidgen of self-loathing. It's like a misanthrope convention only less racist, sexist and homophobic.
