Morning all. There's a glowing orb in the sky, and I don't know what it wants with us... but I worship it as a new god.
TVblog - That Sue Perkins in Japan thing. It was pretty good.
YouTubeblog - I then watched a couple of photography bits, followed by a Red Letter Media Best of the Worst from a few years back. Ghetto Blaster (starring the late Richard Hatch) looks terrible. But Terror in Beverly Hills looks terribly brilliant. And it stars Frank Stallone.
Amigablog - tested out a few games. I was very happy to find out that Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe works without issue. π

Morning Everyone, and especial supplication to the Blog Hive Mind.
Does anyone use duckduckgo browser on Android? I just installed it but I can't work out how to read alt text on it (an absolutely key feature), and I'm not sure I can be arsed to properly swap to it from chrome, even if google are evil.

Duckduckgo? Don't want your mammal knowing what you're getting up to online? Very sensible.

Sorry, no experience whatsoever with duckduckgo. I give all my information to Google so that it can remember things for me that I've forgotten and retrieve everything whenever I drop my phone in the loo.

Why would you use your phone in a loo? Surely a decent book is the way to go.
[EDIT] Not a criticism, just what I do.

I'm currently re-reading 'The last year of the Luftwaffe, May 1944-May 1945', by Alfred Price. A book that gets better with every read. 'A very moving bog book, in all senses.' - The Guardian. 4*

I may not be quite so prolix today - eyes are not focusing properly - it happens occasionally; apparently the obstetrician used forceps and grabbed my giant head, slightly bending the bone by my left eye so it is an oblate spheroid. This means that if it decides to focus a second misshapen off-colour image is added to the active right eye stuff, so both eyes try to synch the image. Bloody unpleasant*, so I tend to listen to stuff whilst my ocular conflict dies down and the left eye goes back to vague shapes.
*I know, like my face, blah...

Thereβs probably other feasible non chrome browsers on android. Firefox, or one of the chrome not chrome ones like opera or Vivaldi.
Then just set DuckDuckGo as your search engine. Iβve been using it for years and never had Larry Page exhibit knowledge of private secrets about me.

Is it the desktop duckduckgo or the mobile? I occasionally use the Android app. I also use firefox and chrome.
Hello. I've had a hangover today. Reminded me why I tend to not drink 8 pints of strong lager and some gin all at one sitting. Marvellous.
Currently hoovering which is really helping. Irn-Bru isn't quite the same for recovery as it was.
Some BOTW in bed earlier after MrsC took the child out with a pal.
The neoprene sleeve for my switch dock arrived today.

In arachnid things that matter, yesterday I caught two enormous (by European standards) spiders and a smaller one in different parts of the house. As much as I understand that in this weather central heating is an attractive feature in an abode they can't just walk in on their eight legs as if they own the place.
I'm currently waiting for the delivery of a Snake? Snake?! Snaaaaaaaake! amiibo. Unfortunately the cardboard box it comes in won't be to scale. I actually ordered this one by clicking on a Guardian ad (for the first time ever), hope they are happy with the revenue.
Ganes: Played more Link's Awakening yesterday. Since I had reached that point after the 2nd dungeon when the map really opens up I've been simply going around collecting all the collectables and bombing my way to success. Link is already so cute he's almost giving me diabetes, now I had a scene where he's actually blushing. SO. DAMN. CUTE. I also had to try putting him into water when he can't swim just to see what happens. In the original game he would just make a little 'ugh' sound, while in the remake he coughs and splutters in the most adorable and overly dramatic way. I promise I won't do it again. Maybe just once more.
Lunch: Vegetable biryani

tenthenemy You won't get rid of all the 8-legged ones; long ago I realized that all I wanted them to do was catch flies and other little pests out of my sight. I've now get rooms kitted out with plugin ultrasonic emitters - insects really do dislike them. But if you have dogs, although they say dogs don't mind I'm not so sure. It doesn't stop them wandering in, but they rapidly decamp. Destry My 'second' team, are rather sticking it to 'Borough... Console yourself - at least your manager isn't in love with Xhaka the Hacker - the idea that a guy capable of that many errors and cards should be captain

Whoah! Equaliser against Derby! What took them so long?
(Got the score pinned to my phone screen, no idea what's going on otherwise)
