Games chat
Souls series- news of the remastered trilogy on switch has seriously got me going.
What is the difficulty of these like? I didn't get on with demon's souls (too hard) but got some distance in bloodborne ( got too drained with it at the forest, bur keen to get involved)
I'm guessing the former is the hardest and the latter the easiest and the dark series somewhere in between?

Are there giant insects in these games or just monsters? Asking for a friend.

No giant insects.
Apart from the flies in Demon's Souls

There's a few spiders. Spiders aren't insects.

I haven't flounced, I'm just incredibly busy and important.
Well, busy anyway.
I also didn't want to overexcite everyone with my motor-racing tales and have Destry be sick on the car ride home again.

When they become giant, I don't think the term 'insect' or 'arachnid' is taxonomically accurate anyway.
Insects and arachnids are size limited by their biology. If their size exceeds what's biologically possible, they become some other monster-type phylum.

Take one day off work and come back to find out that out of the blue entire dept are looking at redundancy. Its the only job I have ever had. Its gonna be a weird three months. Oh jeez, Wilf sorry to hear that. And you with a litter of 14 to look after too. Hope all goes well for you. I've been here 10 years and I've pretty much got Stockholm syndrome by this point. Mrs Zord was made redundant a few years ago, and she was shit at being unemployed. She went on courses of her own free will and everything. I'd have taken up smoking, day drinking and wearing a dressing gown 24/7, I'd have been great at being unemployed.

Is Scubar on a 3 hour drive? Or making coffee? I can't imagine why else he wouldn't have posted a "busty and impotent" joke immediately after Melvazord's comment.

Some fucking massive arthropods: White witch moth Atlas Moth Giant weta Hercules beetle You also used to get pre-historic dragonflies that were two feet wide. Monster-Phylum was Kins rap name.

Ensnsared in a web the size of a football field, a spider the size of a Landrover slowy approaches - venom dripping from its fangs, you hear from my silken cocoon a muffled:
"You know, interestingly, owing to a spider's book-lungs and tracheal respiratory system, that isn't actually an arachnid technically speaking."

Prehistoric monsters.
Did anyone see the Attenborough programme about the sea dragon the other night? It was quite the beastie. About 4m long and probably with jaws longer and stronger than a crocodile.
What gripped me though was that it had had its lungs and ribs staved in by a single bite. And it appeared a second bite had taken its head off. The diameter of the bite was longer than Dave's forearm. The pressure generated by the bite had been about twice as powerful as a modern shark
It made the dinosaur they were excavating look pathetic. Even though it was quite the monster itself.

I've got a couple of hours to burn in Edinburgh tomorrow, and I'm thinking of going to a pub on my own. Is this an acceptable thing to do? When in Rome.

I think the Scottish thing to do is to buy a couple of bottles of Buckfast and four can of Tennents Super from an off-licence and drink them in the street if you have a couple of spare hours.

As long as you don't mind all the bar staff and patrons to think the following: 1. You have no friends 2. You have been stood up by a Tinder date (edit - as she walked in, saw what you looked like in real life, then turned on her heels and legged it out of there). 3. No one wants to go to the pub with you because of your ridiculous leather jacket

Take an actual book, rather than playing with your phone. It looks like you intended to be on your own, and it's a better prop for both inviting conversation and getting it to go away if you find it annoying. Yep, that's right. I'm an expert. Who'd have thunked it? I quite like going for a curry on my own. It's all fine, so long as you are an actual human being in your own right, and not just an appendage of someone else's life.

Bacon and fried egg butty for lunch, and beef casserole in the slow cooker for tea... just the dumplings to make now. proper soul food!
I see Tim Lotts family column has also come to an end today. My spider sense is twitching that there is some purge afoot in the bowels of the G.

When minimum pricing-per-unit for alcohol kicks in in May, that will all change. It'll be Top Deck all round. It's no accident that this coincides with Barr's removing all the sugar from Irn Bru - hangovers will be a thing of the past.
