I didn't see the latest episode of HDM either, but if I'm interpreting the preview from last time correctly there is a scene in there that's not all that helpful for anyone who's experiencing the loss of a pet. I remember that this got me good in the book, I can't remember it from the Hollywood film, presumably they avoided it like they avoided every difficult and meaningful scene. It annoys me the whole "next time" bit, I'm watching it now, I plan to to watch next week, are you so insecure that I won't unless you tease something? Also it brings the D in the HDM, I loved it. |

I agree. 'Next time' is particularly unnecessary if the story is based on a well-known book and hasn't been altered substantially. What's the audience supposed to think, 'oh yeah, that bit happens, what a surprise?' On the lack of daemon complaint, I noticed the Radio Times has an article about just that, but before you click on the link you must know that it contains a kind of spoiler for exactly that scene we've been talking about. Essentially they've done the same thing as the Hollywood version which in my view severely diminishes the impact.
