As I understand it, if we turn the central heating up, some guy in Norway has to trudge out into the snow and plant a tree.

Our average electricity cost is 4.2p per hour, or £1.01 per day, since March, including the standing daily charge. It drops as low as £0.90 in the summer, but was up to £1.17 per day between 13th October and 14th November.

As a 65 yr old man I was obviously required to show photo ID in order to take delivery. It took 5 minutes for the driver to record my date of birth from my passport onto his device. before handing over the liquor. Presumably he had to painstakingly scroll back through the years to reach mine. He now has a perfect copy of your passport, and can finally escape the evil clutches of the delivery industry. |

I do not have a smart meter. I do have a spreadsheet of meter readings for gas and leccy, taken on or around the 14th of each month, since I moved here. The spreadsheets calculate the cost and usage in kWh, and produce a graph* of usage throughout the year. *Actually three graphs. img style="max-width:100%;" src= You're just fucking jealous. As I understand it smart meters make a negligible difference to people's useage over anything except the very short term Particularly if you are using a Google powered spreadsheet to record the savings. |

The smart meter install is a result of our current fixed tariff ending. The cheapest fixed tariff deals require you to have smart meters fitted (in an attempt to meet government targets). I agree it will probably make no difference to our consumption overall.

The main benefit our smart meter was supposed to bring was automatic readings, due to the terrible signal where we are it doesn't work.
