I've just finished watching series 1 of Preacher. I thought it was good. Four stars*
*Five really, but y'know.

Roland Barthes knew the score. He refused to accept the war between cats and dogs, "parce-que tout-les-deux sont wunderbar". That's definitely a direct quotation, and not just something I made up from a half-memory. Cats as some sort of subsumed part of our identity, dogs as an extension of our selves - it was something like that wasn't it? It's a long time since I read any Barthes, but of all the semioticians/post-structuralists/literary theorists he was the least wanky. Some of his stuff even made sense! And, in fairness, he was decent in goal, even though it was for Man U. Tent Hen, regarding Guest's name: I can barely stand to be my own ego; it seems deeply cruel that my alter-ego should be a burden for someone else.
