After Shenguin 's recommendation I read a sample of the first book in the "The Alex Verus* series by Benedict Jacka", it was quite good, though I'd say it is very similar to Jim Butcher** rather than Pratchett/Mieville unless that changes later. * Which in my head I keep pronouncing it Versus. **With a touch of Simon R Green's Nightside books. Yeah, probably. I haven't read a whole lot of fiction like that, and I was more contrasting than comparing. I also pronounce it Versus most of the time. Sure you haven't. We believe you. Will the courts?

We can't book a supermarket delivery slot or even a click and collect anymore. It has begun. We will be hunting cats for food by the end of the week. None in your freezer already? Noob.

Morning
39 down - 17 up.
Massive pheasant has moved into my garden, lured in no doubt by me re-seeding some bald patches in the lawn. Jokingly I send a pic to our work teams chat requesting recipes. I have been told several times that it's not the season yet. I'll give it a couple of weeks and send them a pic of a succulent game pie.

The two of us in the procurement department are to alternate our days in the office, so I'll now be worving Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
We can do everything we do in the office at home so I'm not sure why we've to come in. My manager lives a 5 minute drive away if there was need of a physical presence.

Ganes chat: I am Mount and Blade 2 curious. Didn;t play the first, but I note that the sequel is out next week.
Tuesday question: what does cat shit look like? My garden has 2 or 3 specimens of what I would call dog shit, but my neighbour (who owns a... dog) says it's definitely cat shit. To be fair, there has been a large cat in the garden the last couple of days. Are the two genres of faeces comparable, or do I need to get the dog trapping gear out?
*No pictures or gifs, please.*

small dog vs cat? not a lot of difference. Dogs will however usually leave it somewhere exposed and visible, as a scentmarker for other dogs. Cats tend to be secretive bastards and will pick somewhere they can hide their crap under loose soil / leaves / sand as a trap for the unwary or ungloved hand.

Rub it in your eyes. If you get parasitic toxoplasmosis it's cat shit. Otherwise probably dog. It's the only way to be sure.

91 down, 11 up *1-0 finger wag* 97 down, 37 up... just now... *scores equaliser and wins the penalty shootout = 1-2* 386 down 37 up earlier on; obviously bandwidth problems hitting as the USA comes online. That will soon sort itself out as soon aa Trump's belief that shutting down the economy will cause more deaths than Covid-19 is put to the test. Felice Landry Thank you! Nursey's visit wasn't fun; the steady improvements in my left leg have ceased and shows signs of reversing to deterioration. That's the leg that's prone to gangrene and giving me septic shock... She was really really unhappy about it. We'll see. The other things she said are that there is no inbuilt immunity or capacity to survive the virus - there have now been deaths in all age group deciles where they had no underlying health problems. On a more farcical note she said that some idiotic twats are going to show their appreciation of the NHS by gathering under their windows and have 'mass-clapping'. That will go down well with those just got to sleep after a 12 hr night shift* She said that "these fucking idiots can show their appreciation by staying isolated." Python would take the piss out of this mercilessly ... *Personally I prefer thanks like the 10kg sack of basmati rice I gave her, I had a realisation that as the delivery driver dropped the shopping in the airlock**, I could retrieve my shopping sans rice so she could collect it without my ever having touched it. **The porch has an inner and outer door which I now use as to keep myself pure and unsullied. I hurt, I'm going to sleep

Anyone want a discussion on digital rationing, to keep bandwidth free for vital work? I have to be able to stream Netflix to keep the 5y-o happy so I can do my work. I could actually be in work at the moment if I wanted to be. What I'm saying is, can you all stop with the speed checks in case it interferes with Dragon Riders? If Dragon Riders goes down, I can't do my very busy and important work.
Hope you feel better soon Chumbles.

The Night Manager! I watched the first episode of The Night Manager!
I expect it didn't leave an impact due to constant coronavirus updates and the horrible white wine I was working my way through.

Fillums
Watched 'The Platform' last night. Was all going well until the ending, which then completely lost me. Should have expected that from the Spanish. I am even more confused now than before.

What are everyones top tips for self isolating/working from home?
If I see the words 'new ways of working' or some vaguely worded bollocks about mental health in another email I'm going to throw my laptop in the bin. And those articles about how to cope with being at home and advice from rank amateurs on wiggling from home in the guardian can fuck off too. All that nonsense about not working in bed, getting dressed before you 'start' work, putting on makeup to work at home, virtual coffee mornings, not a word about the PS4 or video streaming.

not that mental health is bollocks, but the advice in emails is always pathetic and basically doing the minimum possible to avoid liability, whilst still asking us to do a ridiculous amount of work with no overtime.

Surely the obvious answer is wake up, turn the laptop on, wiggle the mouse every now and then for an hour while you watch something on Netflix?
