Tonight I tried to order 2 large pizzas for the family.
When I tried to pay the Domino's site said my debit card payment was unsuccessful. I tried again with my wife's joint account card. Same result.
I then tried Papa John's (50% off using Paypal). The payment didn't go through. Tried again. Same result.
I had just resigned myself to having to cook something when Domino's delivered two pizzas. Checked my bank account and they had taken two payments. I rang up and cancelled the second order with the local store. I checked my email and there was no order acknowledgement(s). I now have to contact them for a refund of the second payment.
Apparently lots of discussion on Twitter from people who'd had a similar experience, some of whom had been charged but received nothing.
i didn't even enjoy the pizza.
Great story. Compelling and rich.

Chumbles that's horrific. For all it's worth get in touch with your local social services, your councillor and your MP. It's not a surprise at all though. We have had terrible trouble getting support for my cousin. If it is medical care he NHS pays, if it is social care Birmingham council pay at a lower rate. If it is part medical part social neither want to pay. It was the same with my aunt who had dementia. Difficult to get things done and as soon as she was admitted to hospital the council would turn off all social care even if she was only in for a few days. It did not help that my uncle was difficult and wanted to look after her himself even though he could not. There was one particular visit when someone assessed them as coping when they were living in just one room of the house, with a broken washing machine and with no hot water in the bathroom. The worst thing was she had money after her sister died but no one could access it. By the time we got the court of protection orders in place she was on the way out. I would not recommend the court of protection or the office of the public guardian unless you enjoy filling in multiple forms and spending about £2k for them not to do anything at all. On the plus side I have persuaded all my other elderly relatives to make wills. On the negative side I will have several executorships where I am not a beneficiary. But it is better than the alternatives. Don't get ill without making a will. It really fucks everything up.

After the mini Nintendo Direct day before yesterday I pre-ordered the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition collector's doodah. Have you played it before? Or 2? The overall setting seems cool but the voice acting and dialogue are rage inducing for me. X on the other hand was TB, because you could largely ignore all that bollocks and explore the massive landscape. I have played it before and liked it but not finished it, so I'm all in favour of improved visuals and UI. 2 is still in my pile o' shame and X I liked but haven't played enough of. I can tolerate all sorts of voice acting in English, though less in German.

I've just been playing Tekken6. Now, I've put over 90 hours in this (moron that I am) and in one of the boss fights, I was losing badly. Now this has never happened before, but the boss shouts, 'C'MON NOW..'. So, dear readers, I jumped into the air, lasered him with my eyes, and upon landing, stamped repeatedly on his goolies. No idea how I did that (the goolies bit). Result, a win for Tids.
A game that keeps giving..

Chumbles that's horrific. For all it's worth get in touch with your local social services, your councillor and your MP. Cheers fella, I will, but on Monday - it's easy to get monstered by the situation and get depressed or despair, and that's pretty much as deadly as the virus. So I am taking a break Sheep2 - 'social care' is a joke, and really difficult to a) get and b) get conscientious carers. Even 5 years ago they were a motley crew, grossly underpaid. As a consequence some 40% of my lot were slovenly. I had a bathroom downstairs built so I could dispense with them. I'm hoping that for people like your cousin perversely, the government will at last realise there's no point in saving someone's life then putting them into a life threatening situation on discharge. Don't forget the clocks change tonight...

Oh dear god.
I have got pissed while talking to old friends on zoom. It was the worst and the best. My webcam didn't work (something to do with the court order probably) Fortunately this meant they couldn't see how much I was drinking. There are photos from the 1990s though. This is troubling.

Zoom is a massive benefit to the drinks industry. It is the best. Once you overcome the initial embarrassment that is.

RLJ is still brilliant I was a bit surprised that no-one commented that just as additional contraception is likely needed, the Malaysian company producing a fifth of the world's condoms stopped production a week ago... Morning all!
TVblog - finished The Night Manager. Excellent television, would like to see more.
Gamesblog - my minions are now informing me of their room preferences. And so I've already taken my hammer to Babs' room, and the one next to it, to get the required size. The walls and floor have been completely replaced with gold brick to really up the fancy-quotient of the place.
Amigablog - I've sorted out another boot partition that I'm trying to build from the bottom up. Current size: 28MB. My hope is to reinstall the drivers and other bits and pieces to make a more efficient Workbench.
