Rather than buying an expensive storage system, I have decided to upload my CDs to google music so I can listen to them without having to get out of my Lazyboy* to change them. It's pretty relaxing watching each one upload for 10 minutes before moving on to the next. I hope that somewhere in Silicon Valley, Sergey and the lads are having a great laugh at my terrible taste in music.
*no, not a typo

Best songs for the NHS clap session? Jerusalem has got to be up there. Frothing at the mouth and clasping hands singing hymns as we all die of the pox.
Perhaps another one bites the dust?

I can see the clapping thing going the way of Squires' cartoon observations on Poppy Remembrance day.

In 2012, Hibs sacked their stadium announcer for playing 'Taxman' by the Beatles at half time in honour of Hearts. I thought it was pretty funny. I absolutely love how petty Scottish football is.

Fun fact: I do not like Runrig or Hue and Cry but have fleetingly met members of both. I did not take the opportunity to communicate my opinion of their work.

They were already burned to WPA but nothing I own uses that anymore. When it's done I am chucking all the CDs out to free up some precious space.

You want to be ripping to flac and then transcode to MP3 or AAC. But as you're 80% through it's a tad late to tell you that. But I will anyway as I'm a dick.
Oh. And don't chuck em out. Put in the attic or sell.

Hi
My 10L bag in a box of cask conditioned Pop Up! IPA is nearly empty so I have had to order another.
Supporting my local brewery at £2 a pint. A public service I'm sure you'll agree.

Talking of public services - I read something about a local brewery in Alnwick Northumberland who were giving away beer for donations to NHS services (BBC news), so take a bath tub or a couple of gallon jugs and help them out! OTTM: I finally got the last Star Wars through the door the other day and my refund for the first debacle is on route, so in honour of my upcoming movie week Star Wars blitzkrieg I watched YouTubers [MK ice and fire] gameplay walkthrough of Jedi - Fallen Order 60fps PC version (10-15 hrs worth) - absolutely worth while, though a bit samey and slow in places the plot/story line caught my interest, serves me right for have a console anymore I guess (patience young Padewan, patience)!

That is not strictly true. 320Kbs MP3 is quite good. You can't tell much difference between that and a CD. If you sit and listen carefully you can easily tell the difference between a 96/24 FLAC and an MP3 of the same track. However if you are doing anything other than just listening very carefully there is no effective difference. Obviously I ripped all my CDs in EAC to the highest quality 44.1/16 FLAC. And all my LPs and singles to 192/24 FLAC. That is because I like enormous files though. I generally stream everything through a Marantz streamer which is ace. I'd like a Brennan, but I spent all my money on terrible CDs and enormous hard discs. I have a Radiohead 4K pro shot concert with 24Bit sound which some internet friends made. It is excellent, but the file is over 30GB.

Also I have some terribly recorded music. Does 96/24 improve early JAMC?
I say yes, yes it does. There is nothing like hi-def feedback.

Fuck me, just as I am having cd => AAC problems with my laptop, the 'box collectively employs its psychic powers to go all audiophile on me. Appropriate then that I am sitting here listening to 6 music on my Bose (better than Shenguin's) headphones I should have been at Within Temptation / Evanescence double-header ce soir, and guess I'd be hitting the train to the city centre about now for a few pre-gig Brewdogs. Oh well, some Elvis Juice and Red Stripes at 4pm then poker at 8pm will have to suffice. What could go wrong. Audio chat - my laptop is randomly failing to convert the lossless apple itunes format files to aac when trying to sync to my phone. My educated guess is the laptop's hard disk is so knackered it's randomly failing to read/write (new one on the way tomorrow hopefully Jeff). Fingers crossed the new ssd will solve this but any thoughts as to other solutions I may try before the disk arrives? I've already tried ripping the cds again - it's not the cd rip as it's random across hundreds of cds, changes problem files every time I try to sync. Gamesssss: I've only gone and completed FFVII remake. Postponing the inevitable playthrough on hard until just before the launch of pt.2. Hurry up pt.2. Totally bonkers ending, I now need to watch hours of YouTube documentaries on what it all means as am not an FFVII nerd, so no idea about Advent Children and all the other canon spin-offs they did. OTTM: Can't we just move the bank holiday back to Monday, like it's making any difference anyway now.

I looked at buying a Brennan, but the audiophile opinion about them is snooty as they're apparently based on a Raspberry Pi, and the price is high for the audio quality. Eventually I decided on an Onkyo, but I still haven't bought it as my current amp is perfectly good (with a really cheap Bluetooth streamer attached to it) and I haven't ripped any CDs for ages. I probably couldn't easily find the time for a ripping project, but I guess I could employ a child to do it. www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/wireless-streaming-separates/onkyo-tx8520.htmlHmm, it's £50 cheaper than it was before Christmas, which puts me off it.

I hate iTunes and apple. Despise them. I always convert everything I buy or download to FLAC. And I do not let iTunes near my music catalogue. Ever. I have used the shitty thing as some tracks I want are exclusive to it.
