From The Graun... www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/10/trump-white-house-shooting-secret-service"A Secret Service statement said: “At approximately 5.53pm today a 51-year-old male approached a US Secret Service uniformed division officer who was standing at his post on the corner of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW near the White House complex. The suspect approached the officer and told the officer he had a weapon. The suspect then turned around, ran aggressively towards the officer, and in a drawing motion, withdrew an object from his clothing."What turnip head thinks that moving backwards towards the officer shouting 'I have a gun', then turning around and rushing him is going to get said turnip head in range of President ... Oh scubar ... Anyone else think that the whole thing was staged? Even down to it happening in a press conference? If this had been real they would've had the Trump away to a bunker and be searching the White House surroundings for other threats.

Morning all.
Gamesblog: I picked up the PS4 pad, fully intending to play some Skyrim. But I did not.
TVblog: my partner was watching another cake programme on Netflix, albeit British this time. I had half an eye on it. Then Community.
YouTubeblog: I spent almost an hour watching a chap introduce something called AmiHybrid - a Raspberry Pi-based Amiga system running hosted in Linux. Impressive.
Amigablog: well into the Gs! Later in the evening, I went back to the machine to test more games; and it was stuck in a reboot loop. Ah, the joys of an expanded classic Amiga system... such "character"...

I have 'won' an ebay auction for the princely sum of £2.75. Does this mean that I'm now a playa in the big leagues? Chumbles. Did you receive your camera?

Morning Amipal. I watched 'Once Upon a Time in Iraq' last night. Unfortunately it was episode 5/5, but, by crikey, there's some dodgy footage in there. Grim. I'll try and catch up with the others on iplayer. I then watched the Yorkshire Jobcentre for a change of pace. Work Coach: Why do you think you were rejected at interview? Bloke: I've just got out of jail for kidnapping and threats to kill. Work Coach: Okey Doke.

Yes, but haven't used it yet. Fact is, until I can get outside I'm a bit restricted as to subject matter. But it looks great ...
Now in the 'waiting for Nursey' bit. Blech! Too hot...

Anyone else think that the whole thing was staged? Even down to it happening in a press conference? If this had been real they would've had the Trump away to a bunker and be searching the White House surroundings for other threats. Trumps words: "“There was an actual shooting..." Those are very oddly chosen words. I mean he's an odd guy, but it reads like: "There was an actual shooting, totally not fake news at all. This isn't a false flag distraction. This real shooter was a dangerous guy, real big, a real bigly threat. I personally arrested him. I wish him well"

A lot of people are saying that the guy was a great shooter. I hear that's what a lot of people are saying. Several top 10 finishes with his brother on Fortnite Duos.

Telling someone you've got a weapon would be like telling them you're wearing shoes. So obvious it doesn't need saying.

Morning.
Cool and overcast this morning in South London, coffee on the patio going down well.
It’s Sally’s turn to WFH in the office, so I’m relegated to the kitchen table. Our trip to ikea last week was to get another desk and chair to set up another room for Sally to work from and I’d get my office back, but I used the hot weather as an excuse not to have to put all that stuff together!
PaperMario has really got me excited about gaming - ACNH was fun, but four months of its enough, and the itch to get five stars isn’t enough, nor do I want to make friends with any of the animals. Mario is fun, easy enough to just wander about and do something, the puzzles are just puzzly enough not to make me reach for a walkthrough, and the fighting is complex enough to make me upset when I get it wrong - it’s a little repetitive, but there was a boss I’ve just beaten in the desert that had me reload my save twice to watch the cut scene again and again as it was so fun.
Did I say I bought two copies of Baldurs Gate recently, and still not opened either. But I’m off for a holiday in Cornwall, so the switch should help pass the train journey.

Telling someone you've got a weapon would be like telling them you're wearing shoes. So obvious it doesn't need saying. People are weird and do weird things. There could be any number of things that went on, but the description is congruent with suicide by cop. On the video, Trump says "There was a shooting" then gives a bit more detail, and then adds, "There was an actual shooting"; it sounds more like he meant that someone had been shot, rather than just a weapon discharged. If it had been any other president, I don't think his reaction would have been deemed newsworthy. He's a cunt's cunt, and I'm not defending him, but there's more relevant grounds for attacking him (whether armed with words or a gun). Perhaps one of the Trumpian problems is that the press mock and attack at any opportunity, even when his behaviour is more or less normal. It makes it look like the centrist press are trying to create a fuss and a problem out of nothing; it adds strength to the world view he and his followers promote. There are major fucking problems, but Trump's use of the word "actual" and his other verbal tics aren't where we should be focussed.

If you love Trump so much why don't you marry him? I think even given all that's happened this year, it would still be a surprise if Shenguin turned out the be a blonde model from a former Soviet republic.

Overcast and a bit foggy here, quite cool too.
Has anyone watched the movie Upgrade? I though it was pretty good.
Games: I had a single game of Fortnite but no time for anything else.

Unless you are trained in combat the aftermath of shooting is probably quite intense*. Even if it wasn't that close to hear the shots and know someone has been badly hurt or killed is quite a thing. People say odd things (Trump) and pounce on things oddly (The Press there). It is not the moment for linguistic analysis.
* I've not witnessed a shooting. I'm taking it from seeing people get knocked down by cars and other injuries I seen occur.

Shenguin was born in the 1970s. That was pretty much a soviet republic.

There was a great example of that a year or so ago when he was announcing funding into kidney disease and said something like "the kidney has a special place in my heart". It was absolutely 100% obvious that he didn't literally mean he has a kidney inside his heart, but the press were absolutely jizzing themselves over it. "Trump thinks the KIDNEY is part of the HEART!!!!" "Trump changes human anatomy" "Trump overrules proven science" Etc.

And the scream of the guy who was killed. But I didn't lose the power of speech, nor did I panic. Presence of mind is all you need. And in extreme circumstances it might just give you an edge. As for "It is not the moment for linguistic analysis." It is exactly the time for it before everyone 'gets their stores straight'. AND no-one inside the briefing heard a shot, including Trump. Trump ALWAYS says odd things. You're an egoistic self-important twat. err.. No offence, wool for brains.

There are quite a lot of stories going round about players from various clubs being photographed out and about. Not good. The most egregious example appeared to be Leigh Griffiths having a party at his house with dozens of people in attendance, but in his case there is a plausible defence that they were all his kids.

I'm not reading all that.
Oh wait, I just did.
I have nothing to add to the topic except that I misread "US Secret Service uniformed division officer" as "US Secret Service uninformed division officer".
I apologise to the officer, in case he reads this. Clearly I needed more coffee at the time.

I think they did hear the shots. "One Fox News correspondent said they’d heard two shots fired soon before Trump was hurried out." I mean it is the Guardian reporting on Fox News so god only knows how many times it has been twisted.
Also I was thinking more of after it is over. Once everything is safe, you start to relax and the adrenalin surge of the crisis is gone. People definitely say odd things.
