Morning all!
A gloriously damp day in Sussex. Grey sky, wind, rain… that’ll be me taking the boy to school then.
Gamesblog:
TVblog: Babylon 5, two episodes.
Filmblog: Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring. Best of the three, I reckon.
Amigablog: more cataloging of games, as well as trying a new device on the machine.

Filmblog: Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring. Best of the three, I reckon. Definitely, it has a nice pace to it and the combat is good. By the end of the second film Aragorn would just have to lazily swing his swords and 3 orcs would fall. I keep meaning to get a 4k version of it, but they are hard to get. |

Morning all,
Watched 'Missing 411' a documentary on Netflix about people going missing in the national parks of the USA. I'd watched the other one 'Missing 411:The hunted'.
Disturbing stuff. Good balance between rationale and the more curious.
4 stars.

Morning…. Keep your grotty weather I’ve just lit the bbq!
Beef topside joint cut into strips and marinaded in soy sauce and spices for 36 hours. Now on a v low bbq with some hickory chips, which I need to maintain at 90ish degrees for 6 hours, and I should end up with something approximating beef jerky….. or charcoal.

Instead, last night, I watched a film called 'Nightcrawler' with Jake Gyllenhaal, which you've probably never heard of. 4* would recommend.

Filmblog: Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring. Best of the three, I reckon. I wasn't keen ... The elves made me think of upper middle class 1970s English keyboard wizards, the orcs were all hideous, the Shire was like a vision of rural Ireland as imagined by James Cameron at the time of directing Titanic. Samwise Gamgee was a straw chewing yokel.
I didn't really like any of the films the first time round but have watched The Two Towers since and found it pretty stirring.

I know ... people might question why I've put hideous orcs as a 'negative' for Fellowship of the Ring. I just don't like it though - the equation of ugliness with evil. It doesn't sit right with me. Why not do orcs like this?
That's how you do orcs. Ralph Bakshi gives good orc.
