All back to Cranks after the gig for "an empty"? No bother, I live at number 18. The key is under the blue painted hedgehog round the back.

hi
I had an ok weekend. I read 60 pages of a book about Keir Starmer, and watched Glastonbury coverage. Dry Cleaning were good. Maybe Idles? They seemed alright.
I did watch Paul McCartney and put a toe into the βPaul is Deadβ internet content. I also went to Sainsburyβs and found they were selling La Chouffe, for Β£2 a bottle. Outstanding. A truly excellent development.
That is all.

My wine people have written to me to say I haven't been buying enough wine. They've said I can have three free bottles if I order today.

Vidja gamez blog: Bit more Xenoblade. Didn't feel like going up against the new big bad that wiped the floor with me last time so opted for a change of scenery. I thought I was done with side quests when I spotted some unfamiliar ones in a side quest guide. Managed to complete one quest and send another character to Colony 6 but according to whoever compiled the guide there's still more and I don't know how to unlock those because all I have is the title of the quest(s). I love the difficulty of the game in this respect but at the same time it's obscure enough to drive anyone potty.
Another lively episode of Trails in the Sky the 3rd in the Sunday stream. Andrew plays all games with a controller as God intended, but after 3 unsuccessful attempts for the first time he grudgingly had to switch to mouse when this turn-based RPG suddenly threw in a turret defence challenge. A reminder that the game was first developed for PC. None of us could imagine how this section had been handled in the PSP port or indeed in later PS ports.
Wine blog: the PM and I had some great times raiding the AbbΓ© Auchan for French wine and then filling the rest of the car with Majestic's South African selection. But without him I'm drinking a lot less wine in general and red wine specifically. I miss those fun times. Sheep is right about those Ventoux wines.
Lunch blog: chicken pakora with lemon juice, mayo and flatbread plus a few crunchy mini cucumbers. All the stars.

Hi.
I upgraded my PSPlus to the 'Extra' tier last night, because I am kind of a big deal. I then downloaded the following: Returnal, Ghosts of T, Telling Lies, Outer Wilds, ABC Murders, Observation, Soma, Spoderman Miles Morales. Quite impressed that they all fit on the hard drive and that they downloaded so fast. I'll never play them, obviously.
Games: Frantics, a surprisingly good couch multiplayer game.
Elden Ring: up to the second main boss and getting my onions thoroughly assed every time I try to moyder her. Multiple rage quits. 4 stars.

Been playing the time-loop game '12 Minutes' on and off for a few feeks, finally got to a couple of the endings last night and this afternoon. There's a big third act twist that I'm not really sure how I feel about. It was never going to have a 'Groundhog Day' Hollywood finale, but I'm feeling less than whelmed. The ending I found today boots you back to the very start of the story and bins your save game, so it seems unlikely I'll bother to see if it gets any better than that

So Sheffield Hallam University is suspending its English Literature course because the government is penalising universities for low graduate employment. Because if graduates can't get professional jobs it's clearly the fault of the education they received and not, say, the government failing to create graduate jobs.
But I thought that the promise before the Brexit referendum had been that the government would make up any funding shortfalls that were a result of leaving the EU to make sure that UK universities stayed "world class"? And I would have thought that a British university cancelling an English literature course is a bit of an embarrassment? And did those feet in ancient time?

Drinking wine doesn't make you sophisticated, not drinking wine doesn't make you a pleb.
Having just drunk a lot of Budweiser I feel my opinion is important and should be listened to.

I now feel trivial after Tent Hen's post. Don't. In my experience unemployed English Lit graduates don't discriminate against any alcoholic drink so it's all highly relevant.

Drinking wine doesn't make you sophisticated. Drinking wine makes me drunk. Drinking sophisticated wine may make me drunk in a sophisticated way. Drunk is better than sophisticated. But drunk and sophisticated is best. At least until the next morning.

It seems that there will be another year of government by misdirection, of holding power at any cost irrespective of the will, without the consent of the people. There will be a reckoning at the ballot box.
